The past few years have been very challenging, but we are very happy to report that Nagoya Players has remained strong and active.
In 2023 we’re shifting our focus to smaller, but more intimate productions. These shows are a bit more mature and the subject matter a little more complicated. The world has become a very complex and confusing place recently, and we wanted to do a few shows to reflect our times. We hope these shows will get audiences thinking and evaluating society and its many relationships.
Nagoya Players will start the year with a blackbox production of the Edward Albee Showcase. Then in September, we have Untolled, an original show by writer, director, and performer Joe Sichi. And to finish the year, we will put on the very popular Nagoya Players Junior Showcase 2023. Descriptions of the shows can be found below.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Nagoya Players during these last few seasons. We have a lot of energy and momentum going into 2023 and are eager to put on some great shows for the city of Nagoya.
ここ数年、私たち名古屋プレイヤーズは多くの困難を乗り越えてきました。
2023年も力強く活動していくことを発表できることを大変嬉しく思います。
2023年は少し小さく、観客の皆さんとの距離が近い公演を準備中です。
少し難しい複雑な内容ですが、現代社会もまた、ますます複雑になってきています。
そんな「私たちの今」を描けたらと思っています。
観客の皆さんの、現代の評価社会や人と人との関係性について何かを考える機会になることを願っています。
名古屋プレイヤーズの今年度最初の公演は「エドワードオールビーの短編集」です。
そして9月には、作家であり、演出家であり、役者でもあるジョー シキ氏オリジナル作品である「Untolled」を上演します。
そして12月は、もうおなじみとなりました「名古屋プレイヤーズJr. 2023」です。

Nagoya Players is excited to present three of Albee’s best one-act shows together, The Sandbox, The American Dream, and Counting the Ways. These shows will be performed in an intimate blackbox environment, where the audience can really feel the energy and emotions of the characters.

Untolled is an original play written by Joe Sichi. The plot centers on a theater troupe attempting to put on Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams, the Director’s favorite playwright. The production is thrown into turmoil by societal, generational, group dynamic, personal and personnel problems. Can they pull this off?
「Untolled」はジョー シキ氏によるオリジナル作品です。ジョー氏が敬愛する作品であるテネシーウィリアムズの熱いトタン屋根の上の猫をオマージュして描かれています。社会の混乱、世代間や、集団、個人、様々な問題提起が投げかけられていますが、さてどう乗り越えていくのでしょうか。

名古屋市青少年交流プラザ ユースクエア
Our series of performance based workshops have been popular with both children and adults. We have Acting, Dancing, Singing, Magic workshops and more. Children enrolled in the workshops will learn a performance skill in an immersive English environment. At the end of each program children will then be ready to perform on stage at our annual Showcase.
名古屋プレイヤーズJr.企画「英語で〇〇」シリーズは演劇、ダンス、歌、マジックのワークショップを開催し、多くの方々に素晴らしい評価をいただきました。ワークショップに参加した子供達が体感しながら英語を学び、恒例の舞台「Showcase」 に出演します。
