「駄作映画のシーンが現実に起きたら」は、現代社会を赤裸々に照らし出す、ジャンルの枠を超えた鋭利な舞台作品。断片的なシーンとブラックユーモアに満ちたモノローグがモザイクのように重なり、性的欲望、近代性、そして崩壊しつつある機能不全に陥った社会を描き出す。

次々と展開される構成と覗き見るような親密な描写はこの作品が混沌としたデジタル時代を映し出している様である。助けを求める叫びさえも娯楽に変わる現代において、本作は笑い、不安、誠実さを併せ持つ『ドゥームスクロール演劇』の極致に達する——世界が崩壊していくのを止められず、ただ見つめ続ける私たちに贈る舞台。

SHOW DIRECTOR•演出

Shawn Mahler is a multimedia artist, writer, director, and producer based in Nagoya, Japan. He serves as the Creative Director of Nagoya Players, the city’s oldest English-language theater company, where he oversees seasonal programming and stage productions. Originally from California, Shawn studied Film & Media Theory and Film Production at the University of California, Irvine, where he discovered a passion for Japanese storycraft through the work of director Shohei Imamura. After a stint in Hollywood, he relocated to Japan to study Japanese filmmaking and has since built a career creating socially engaged theater, documentaries, and short films. His debut novel, Chizawa Bay: As Ugly As I Am, reflects his deep connection to Japan’s culture, communities, and storytelling traditions.

ショーン・マ―ラーは、マルチメディア・アーティスト、作家、演出家、プロデューサーとして名古屋を拠点に活躍しています。名古屋最古の英語劇団「Nagoya Players」のクリエイティブ・ディレクターを務め、企画や舞台制作を統括。
カリフォルニア出身のショーンは、カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校で映画・メディア理論および映画制作を学び、日本の有名な映画監督・今村昌平の作品に魅了し、日本の芸術に興味を持つ様になる。ハリウッドでの短期間の活動を経て、日本映画制作を学ぶために来日。以来、社会性のある作品、ドキュメンタリー、短編映画の制作に取り組んでいる。
彼のデビュー小説『Chizawa Bay: As Ugly As I Am』は、日本の文化、地域社会、そして伝統的なストーリーへの深い愛着を映し出した作品。

「駄作映画のシーンが現実に起きたら」は、ブラックボックスシアターで上演され、客席数が限られています。舞台と観客との距離が近く親密で臨場感あふれる特別なブティック公演です。大胆で境界を超えたストーリーテリングを求める演劇ファンのために企画された本作は、大規模会場では決して味わうことのない特別な舞台です。チケットは完売が予想されますので、お早めにお求めください。劇場でお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。
