NPJ Showcase 2026: Wrap Up

(English below) 名古屋プレイヤーズジュニア・ショーケース2026は、無事に幕を閉じました。創造力、チームワーク、そしてパフォーマンスが見事に融合した、非常に印象的な舞台となりました。全公演満席の週末を通して、子どもたちは3つのオリジナル作品に命を吹き込み、エネルギーと心、そして豊かな想像力で、喜びと意味に満ちた瞬間を舞台いっぱいに届けてくれました。

『Super Shells』は、鮮やかな色彩と弾けるようなエネルギーでショーケースの幕を開けました。にぎやかなビーチを舞台に、自信に満ちた音楽好きの貝たちが、心を閉ざした貝に勇気を与え、仲間として迎え入れる物語です。遊び心あふれる楽曲、大胆な動き、そして「受け入れること」と「励まし」という明確なメッセージが、アンサンブルの魅力を見事に体現していました。生徒たちは身体表現を存分に活かし、“ロックスター・シェルズ”を生き生きと演じきりました。

プリティーントゥループは『The Jar of Truth』で、ダイナミックかつ思慮深い舞台を披露しました。ユーモアとミステリー、そして深いテーマ性を融合させたこの作品は、「公平さ」「包摂」「思い込みへの疑問」を描いています。英雄的な物語として始まる展開は、やがて「モンスター」と呼ばれていた存在が誤解されていたこと、そして真実は視点によって変わるという強いメッセージへと変化します。出演者たちは複雑な台詞とキャラクターを自信を持って演じ、繊細さと成熟した表現を舞台にもたらしました。

そして『Emma Amazing & The Bucket Fillers』では、優しさと心の成長をテーマにした幻想的な町が舞台に広がりました。空っぽだと感じていたエマが、他者の「バケツ」を満たすことの大切さを学ぶ物語は、観客と出演者の両方に深く響きました。ユーモアと動き、そして感情の真実味に満ちた演技が印象的で、不気味な存在から始まり、コミュニティが一つになる感動的なフィナーレまで、共感、回復力、そして小さな親切の力が鮮やかに描かれました。

このショーケースは、素晴らしいチームの尽力とビジョンなしには実現しませんでした。ショーディレクターのKory Alexander Majanskyには、創造性と丁寧な指導で作品を導いていただき、心より感謝いたします。また、ミュージックディレクターのBen Dormanには、各作品に命を吹き込むオリジナル楽曲を提供していただきました。アシスタントディレクターのAgus Ardisanaには、制作期間を通じた献身的なサポートに感謝いたします。そして、エグゼクティブディレクターの松島良子には、リーダーシップ、翻訳、そしてプログラムへの揺るぎない貢献に深く感謝申し上げます。

さらに、舞台裏を支えてくださったすべてのスタッフ、ボランティア、そして保護者の皆さまにも、心より御礼申し上げます。そして何よりも、舞台に立った子どもたちへ。その勇気、成長、そして喜びこそがNPJの原動力です。

NPJ Showcase 2026

Nagoya Players Junior Showcase 2026 has come to a close. It was a remarkable celebration of creativity, teamwork, and performance. Across a sold-out weekend, our young performers brought three original productions to life with energy, heart, and imagination, filling the stage with moments that were both joyful and meaningful.

Super Shells opened the showcase with vibrant color and infectious energy. Set on a lively beach, the story followed a group of confident, music-loving shells who help a closed-off shell find the courage to open up and join the team. With playful songs, bold movement, and a clear message about inclusion and encouragement, the performance captured the spirit of ensemble work beautifully. The students embraced the physicality of the show, bringing the “rock star shells” to life with enthusiasm and charm.

Our Pre-Teen troupe delivered a dynamic and thoughtful performance in The Jar of Truth . Blending humor, mystery, and deeper thematic storytelling, the show explored ideas of fairness, inclusion, and challenging assumptions. What begins as a tale of heroic conquest evolves into a powerful revelation: the so-called “monsters” are misunderstood, and truth is shaped by perspective. The performers handled complex dialogue and character work with confidence, bringing nuance and maturity to the stage while maintaining strong ensemble cohesion.

Finally, in Emma Amazing & The Bucket Fillers, the stage transformed into a whimsical town centered around kindness and emotional growth. The story of Emma—who begins feeling empty but learns the power of filling others’ “buckets”—resonated deeply with both performers and audience. The cast delivered a heartfelt performance filled with humor, movement, and emotional honesty. From the eerie presence of Evy the Emptier to the uplifting finale where the community comes together, the show highlighted empathy, resilience, and the impact of small acts of kindness.

This showcase would not have been possible without the dedication and vision of our incredible team. Huge thanks to Show Director Kory Alexander Majansky for guiding these productions with creativity and care, and to Music Director Ben Dorman, whose original compositions once again gave each show its heart. Special thanks to Assistant Director Agus Ardisana for tireless support throughout the process, and Executive Director Yoshiko Matsushima for her leadership, translation work, and unwavering commitment to the program.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to all stagehands, volunteers, and parents—your support behind the scenes made everything possible. And of course to the children, whose courage, growth, and joy on stage are what make NPJ so special.
