More Rice!
先日、東区にあるこども食堂「Qちゃん」を訪問しました。温かく和やかな雰囲気の中で、子ども達が楽しそうにしっかりと食事をとっている様子に心が温まりました。厨房ではシェフの皆さんが一生懸命、たくさんの料理を汗だくになりながら丁寧に作っていて、その献身的な姿にも感動しました。これだけの食事を毎日用意するのは本当に大変なことだと思います。
今回の訪問では、政府の備蓄米の放出により、通常の２倍のお米10kgを寄付することができました。お米はこども食堂にとって最も必要とされている食材であり、食費や光熱費の高騰により多くの食堂が厳しい経済状況に直面しています。今回の寄付が、子どもたちのお腹を満たし、少しでも助けになれば幸いです。
We recently visited our local kodomo shokudo, QChan, and were heartened to see children enjoying full, healthy meals in such a warm and lively setting. The chefs were hard at work in the kitchen, preparing dish after dish with care and dedication—it’s no small task feeding so many hungry kids!
During our visit, we delivered 10kg of rice—more than our usual donation—thanks to a recent release from government stockpiles. Rice remains the most essential staple at kodomo shokudo, and with rising food and utility costs, many of these kitchens are under serious financial pressure. We hope this donation brings full bellies and a bit of relief.

アナ・バルデス・リム氏
(ENGLISH BELOW) 名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアは先日、子どもワークショップを開催し舞台演技の基礎を指導しました。指導者アン・バルデス・リムは著名な女優であり演技指導者でもあります。このワークショップに参加した子ども達は、思い出に残る素晴らしい経験ができました。
アナ氏は専門的なことだけでなく、舞台芸術への情熱もセッションに注ぎ込みました。温かく情熱的な姿勢で、様々なアクティビティを通して基礎的なパフォーマンススキルの指導に焦点を当てました。ワークショップでは身体のコントロールに重点を置き、子ども達は自分の身体の動きを意識し、舞台上では身体が表現のツールとなることを学び、姿勢、身振り、動きがどのようにキャラクターや感情を伝えることができるかを探りました。
チームワークはワークショップのもう一つの重要な要素でした。パートナーやグループでのエクササイズを通して、子ども達は協力し合い、交流し、仲間のパフォーマーをサポートすることの大切さを学びました。これらの協調性は、演劇が皆んなで協力して舞台を作り上げる芸術であるという考えを改めて深めるのに役立ちました。
ワークショップの終わりには、子どもたちは実践的なスキルを習得しただけでなく、演劇に求められる規律と創造性への理解を深めることができたと思います。アナ・バルデス・リム氏は素晴らしい指導者であり、インスピレーションを与えてくれます。子ども達が彼女から学ぶ機会を得られたことを、私たちは心から嬉しく思っています。
そして素晴らしいアシスタントを務めてくださったエミリー先生に特に感謝いたします！

Wrap Up: Your Creative Body
NPJ Workshop
With Ana Valdes Lim
Nagoya Players Junior recently hosted a special workshop designed to introduce young performers to the fundamentals of stage acting. Led by the esteemed Ana Valdes Lim—an accomplished actress and acting coach—the workshop offered a hands-on experience that left a lasting impression on our young performers.
Ana brought not only her expertise but also her passion for the performing arts to the session. With warmth and enthusiasm, she guided the children through a variety of interactive activities that focused on building foundational performance skills. The workshop emphasized body control, teaching the children how to be aware of their physical movements and how to use their bodies as expressive tools on stage. They explored how posture, gesture, and movement can convey character and emotion.
Teamwork was another core element of the workshop. Through partner and group exercises, the children learned the value of working together, interacting, and supporting their fellow performers. These collaborative experiences helped reinforce the idea that theater is a shared, collective art form.
By the end of the workshop, the kids not only gained practical skills but also a deeper appreciation for the discipline and creativity involved in theater. Ana Valdes Lim is a true mentor and inspiration, and we are so happy they had the opportunity to learn from her.

(English Below) 名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアは代官町にある子ども食堂Qちゃんに毎月10キロのお米を届けています。月曜日から金曜日までオープンしてますので是非食べに行って見て下さい。毎日心を込めて美味しい夕食を作って暖かく迎えて下さいます。
子どもは無料です。大人は料金が決まってませんが、お気持ちだけ納めて下さいね。
As part of our charity efforts, Nagoya Players Junior has donated monthly deliveries of 10 kilograms of rice to Kodomo Shokudo Q-chan, a food-kitchen in Daikancho serving children and families in need. They are open Monday through Friday, so please come and try some rice. They cook delicious dinners with love every day and will give you a warm welcome.
Children are free. There is no set price for adults, but please donate what you feel comfortable with.

(English Below) 名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアは毎年高い評価をいただき、公演毎に規模が拡大してきました。２０１９年に１０人の子ども達で始まったこのプログラムは今年度は３つのグループが歌とダンスを交えた英語でミニミュージカルを演じるショーケースへと成長しました。このプログラムに参加し、英語とパフォーマンスのスキルを磨き続けている子供達の成長を見るにつけ、私たちは心から誇りに思います。
この度、名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアは母体である英語劇団名古屋プレイヤーズから独立したソーシャルメディアを新しく開設しました。その為、ワークショップ、舞台、イベントなどのお知らせや最新情報を受け取れるように、新にFacebook, Instagramに「いいね」してフォローしてください。
このプロジェクトの成功に尽力をしてくださった多くの方々に感謝申し上げます。

Nagoya Players Junior has been one of our most successful projects, growing in size and scope over the years. What started as a group of ten young performers has now blossomed into a full showcase featuring three different troupes performing mini-musicals, complete with song and dance. We are so proud of all the kids who have gone through the program as well as those who continue to develop their English and performance skills.
NPJ now has the resources to branch off from its parent theater-company, Nagoya Players, and so we’ll be dedicating a separate social media presence to the group. Please like and follow us on our new Facebook and Instagram pages to get announcements and up-to-date information about workshops, shows, and events.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
初めて英語劇に挑戦する方も経験者の方もどなたでも参加できます。オープンワークショップは子供達が演劇舞台を体験できるように構成され、いろんな英語表現や実際の舞台で必要な演じる動作を指導します。また、参加者の子供達だけでなく、保護者様にも劇団について知っていただく良い機会になりますので、ご興味のある方は是非ご参加ください。お待ちしています。
First-timers and returning performers are both welcome. The Open Workshops are designed to give children a soft introduction to the performing arts. Children will practice a variety of English and acting activities used for stage performance. These workshops will help children as well as parents understand the level of commitment needed to join the show.

Building an Ensemble
In this collaborative workshop, young performers will work together to create spontaneous, free, and unique stage pictures and short scenes. Introduction to “awareness” and “permission” as the building blocks of a theatre ensemble. Focus on physicality, gesture, and improvisation to build self-esteem, discover original characters, and foster an encouraging environment of fun and support.
Workshop Goals:
- Fundamental movement skills (group safety, balance, pace, levels)
- Explore the full range of body and voice
- Create your own characters
- Develop an excitement for working together to achieve a goal (objective)
Pre-Teen （新小学４年〜中学生）
自分を信じる
このワークショップでは自らを次のステップへ、また最もクリエイティヴな状態に導けるよう演技のツールを向上させます。軽快なフィジカルアクティビティやヴォーカルエクササイズを通して、人に評価されるストレスや不安、恐れを克服します。自由に演ずることに喜びを感じ、思いのままに自然に振る舞う素晴らしさを体験します。今起きていることに集中し耳を傾け自信を持ってコミュニケーションを図ることに重きを置きます。

Pre-Teen Troupe
Trust Yourself
This workshop will give developing artists the tools to take their acting to the next level and unlock their most creative self. Through a series of fun physical and vocal exercises, participants will be able to release common tensions like stress, anxiety, and fear of being judged. Students will find joy in free movement and be surprised by the power of their natural instincts. Emphasis on listening and responding to stay present in the moment and communicate with ease and confidence.
Workshop Goals:
- Act before you think
- Free yourself and your ensemble with Awareness and Permission
- Respond truthfully to one another, moment to moment
- Play with Text and Develop a crafting technique rooted in fundamentals (Previous Circumstance, Objective, Actions)
オーディション
ワークショップで学んだスキルがオーディションで生かされます。大役を狙いたい人には役に立つスキルがワークショップで沢山学ぶことができます。2025ショーケースの舞台で台詞のある役を演じたい人はオーディションを受けてください。諸事情によりワークショップを受講できない方でもオーディションのみ￥２０００で受けられます。
Auditions
The skills learned through the workshops will be applied in the audition process. Children who wish to get large and leading roles will greatly benefit from the experience. Children who wish to get speaking parts in the upcoming Nagoya Players Junior Showcase will need to go through the audition process.
Children who don’t complete the workshops will still have the opportunity to audition. However, there will be a one-time participation fee of ¥2000.

アナ・ヴァルデス・リム
アナ・ヴァルデス・リム氏は全米随一のレベルを誇るジュリアード・パフォーミングアートの専門大学で演劇を専攻し、アメリカとフィリピンで役者として活躍。リンカンセンターにあるthe Koch Theaterやニューヨークにあるthe Public Theater で、映画やテレビ、舞台に出演し、後にハワイ大学マノア校にて演劇指導をする。現役舞台を退いた後の１６年間は演劇に関する本を執筆。彼女の芸術監督としての功績を讃えて称号を贈られる。現在はテレビや映画、オーディションなどを目指す若き役者達にオンラインで指導。２０２３年名古屋プレイヤーズ制作エドワード・アルビー著「アメリカンドリーム」に出演し素晴らしい演技を披露。２０２４年ウィリアム・シェークスピア「ロミオとジュリエット」演出担当し大好評を博す。
ANA VALDES LIM
Ana Valdes Lim is a Juilliard School, Drama graduate, from New York who has acted and trained actors in the United States and the Philippines. As an actress, Ana has worked on film, TV and the stage including the Koch Theater, in Lincoln Center, the Public Theater in New York. Ana is also a teacher, she received her teaching credentials from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is an author of several acting books and received Emerita after retiring 16 years as artistic director of Metta. Ana coaches actors online, internationally, and helps actors for their auditions in tv, film, theater, and auditions. Ana recently acted in Nagoya Players’ production of Edward Albee’s The American Dream (2023) and directed William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (2024).
コリー・アレグザンダー・マジャンスキー
コリー・アレグザンダー・マジャンスキー氏はニューヨークのコロンビア大学で日本語や日本文学・歴史を専攻し、その傍、演劇の学校に通う。卒業後はニューヨークで劇作家・演出家・役者として活躍。２０２４年英会話講師として来日。マイズナーメソッドと呼ばれる演技方法で役柄に没入し素晴らしい表現力を発揮。NYのマギー・フラニガン・スタジオで劇作家として活躍。来日早々の２０２４年には名古屋プレイヤーズ制作「ロミオとジュリエット」に出演し、多くの観客を魅了。また、アメリカの演劇団体コートラックの支援を受け、２０２４年オリジナル作品で舞台制作。２０２５NPJ子供英語劇を指導する機会を与えられた事に縁を感じ感謝する。
KORY ALEXANDER MAJANSKY
Kory is a theatre writer, director, actor and english teacher for kids and adults. They are from New York and graduated Columbia University with a degree in Japanese language, culture, and history. They developed a strong background in Meisner Acting technique, open movement, natural voice, and playwriting at the Maggie Flanigan Studio (NYC). Last year Kory performed in Romeo & Juliet (2024) and loved being a part of the Nagoya Players community. Founder of Coat Rack, an experimental theatre group that produces original stories for the stage, Kory wants to remind us that it’s called a play for a reason. So let’s play!

English Education Initiative (EEI)
EEI ( ナゴヤ・プレイヤーズ英語教育研究会）では英語習得を目指しているの方々が楽しみながら英語をマスターできるようサポート活動しています。
生きた英語を身につけるにはなるべく早い段階で英語環境を作ることが鍵だと考えます。
バイリンガルの子供達は月齢が早い段階で、その外国語環境を整えることにより外国語を身につけています。それは将来に向けての揺るぎない財産になることは間違いありません。そこで、私たち名古屋プレイヤーズは「初級」「中級」「上級」を対象にしたプログラムを作成し英語環境作りをお手伝いして参ります。
Nagoya Players’ English Education Initiative (EEI) has been developed to encourage a life-long love of language study in the residents of Aichi. From youth to adults we are creating materials and organizing events that will aid learners in their pursuit of mastering the English language. And have fun at the same time!
We firmly believe that early exposure to English is a key indicator for future success. Children who develop foreign language skills early in life routinely show improved performance at school and gain access to better career opportunities.
With each Nagoya Players’ show we also organize Kids, Beginner, Intermediate and Advance English programs to encourage everyone to further pursue their studies.

NPJ Showcase 2024 Wrap Up
(English Below) 名古屋プレイヤーズ・ジュニア・ショーケースは毎年の公演で人気を博し、傑出した舞台を制作しています。ショーケース２０２４は従来の演目に加えて、新しくプリティーンチームが登場しました。
舞台は、恒例の「英語でタップ」ダンスチームによる「Dancing in the Rain」を皮切りに、プリ・ティーン・チームが「ひとりで歩いた猫」、エレメンタリー・チームが「ジョリーヴィレの宝物」を演じました。
「英語でタップ」はとてもカラフルな舞台でショーケースを彩り、雨の日が待ち遠しくなりそうな鮮やかな色の傘でリズミカルなダンスを演出し、ちはるさんとアンジェリンさんは観客の皆さんも巻き込み、多くの人々を魅了しました。タップチームは毎年ファンが増え、皆さんが楽しみにしているお馴染みの演目になりました。こうして今年も参加いただけたことをとても嬉しく思います。
次にプリ・ティーンが演じたのはイギリス人小説家ラドヤード・キップリング作「ひとりで歩いた猫」。今回、新たに脚本をした劇場版では、気高い猫の役をエルシー・リーが演じました。過酷な環境の森（Wet Wild Woods）に住む動物たちが温かい洞窟で暮らすバーニー（カラム・ヴィグロウ）とダイアナ（カノン・トンプソン）に家族として迎えてもらい安らぎのある棲み家を手に入れます。そんな中、気位の高い猫は自分自身が誰よりも賢く、恐れることは何もないと毅然とした態度を貫きますが、家族の一員になる３つの条件を満たし、仲間として受け入れられます。プリ・ティーンのメンバーはこの古典物語を通して、家族の繁栄や絆を見事に表現してくれました。また、劇中で歌われた音楽はNPJ専属のベン・ドーマン氏が作詞作曲を手掛け、ヴォーカル・コーチの原あやこ先生が指導しました。「ひとりで歩いた猫」はプリ・ティーングループとして１作目ですが、この先も技術を磨き、向上していってもらいたいと願っています。
次にエレメンタリーがミュージカル・アドベンチャー「ジョリヴィレの宝物」を演じました。ジュン（川上ここあ）ナゲット（稲吉さわ）ピーチズ（内田さら）の３人がジョリヴィレの宝物を探しながら、森と海辺とジャングルを彷徨います。クランブル市長（オスカー・ケニー）から宝物のありかを示した地図を手に入れ、３人は宝探しに出かけ、行く先々で不思議な動物たちに出会います。
まず、森では鳴き鳥ネリー（牧村そらな）と仲間のチャッピーチックス達（山田ゆい、アリシア・ケニー、タイ・ベランガー）に遭遇し、宝箱を開ける一つ目の鍵「一緒に分かち合うこと」を見つけます。
次に訪れたのは常夏のビーチ、踊る蟹ジャッキー（脇田りこ）と仲間のカスタネット達（堀田えま、内田あんり、脇田そう）に出会い、２つ目の鍵「楽しむこと」を発見します。
最後に出会ったのは、ジャングルに潜むファンキーモンキーのサム（新海りん）と仲間のタンバリン達（斎場あこ、稲吉りんたろう、セナン・グリーソン）。３つ目の鍵は「健やかな心」。３つの鍵を手に入れた子供達はジョリヴィレに戻り、魔法の玉手箱を開けるのですが。玉手箱から出て来た宝物、それは・・・・「し・あ・わ・せ」でした。
これら３つの演目「英語でタップ」「ジョリヴィレの宝物」「独りで歩いた猫」はジェフリッチ氏が振り付け、ダンスなどの演出を担当しました。ジェフ先生は子供達に親しまれ、楽しく愉快に毎回のワークショップを指導してくださり、とても感謝しています。
お気づきの方もいらっしゃるかと思いますが、今年のショーケースにとても貢献してくださった大切な人がいます。クロエ・ナイリ氏には何ヶ月もかけて衣装のデザインと縫製を担当してくださり、心から感謝いたします。彼女のおかげで舞台がより華やかになり全てのシーンが生き生きと鮮やかに彩られました。
その他、舞台制作に携わった保護者様、サポーター、スポンサー、など多くの方々に心から御礼申し上げます。皆様のご協力のおかげで素晴らしい舞台を制作することができました。
２０２５ショーケースはキンディチームを復活させたいと計画中です。その為４〜６歳の幼児の出演者を募集します。

For Showcase 2024, we continued with our tradition of iteration and adaptation by adding a new troupe to the lineup – Pre-Teens. This year’s show featured three great performances: Eigo de Tap’s Dancing in the Rain, The Cat Who Walked by Herself featuring the Pre-Teen troupe, and The Jollyville Treasure featuring the Elementary troupe.
Eigo de Tap started off the showcase with a very colorful tap routine that reminded us to find joy even when it rains. The dancers performed a beautiful dance utilizing vibrant, colored umbrellas. Chiharu and Angeline then led the audience in a sing-along, encouraging the audience to tap along and let’s all say dancing in the rain today. Eigo de Tap is an audience-favorite every year, and we’re so grateful they could join us again.
The Pre-Teen troupe then took stage, performing an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Cat That Walked by Himself. In this new theatrical version, the titular CAT was played by Elsie Lee.Through a series of bad deals the animals of the Wet Wild Woods came together as a family and lived in a lovely, warm cave with BERNIE (Calum Vigrow) and DIANA (Kanon Thompson). The CAT proved herself gentle, clever, and fearless and was invited to join their family. The Pre-teens did a marvelous job bringing this classic tale to life and imparting its message of cherishing family and establishing permanent bonds. The show featured a moving ballad, First Magic, with music by NPJ Composer Ben Dorman and training by Vocal Coach Ayako Hara. The Cat Who Walked by Herself was an incredible start to our Pre-Teen program, and we’re looking forward to continuing the troupe’s skill development and growth.
Next, our Elementary troupe took stage with their musical adventure, The Jollyville Treasure. In this full-length, mini-musical JUNE (Kokoa Kawakami), NUGGET (Sawa Inayoshi), and PEACHES (Sara Uchida) explored forests, beaches, and jungles in search of the mystical Jollyville Treasure. After finding MAYOR CRUMBLE’s (Oscar Kenny) treasure map, the children encountered a series of magical creatures who helped them on their journey. First, they met NELLY THE SONGBIRD (Sorana Makimura) and the CHIRPY CHICKS (Tai Belanger, Yui Yamada, and Alicia Kenny) and discovered the Key of Togetherness. Next, they were rescued on the beach by dancing crabs, JACKY (Riko Wakita) and the CASTANETS (Sou Wakita, Ema Hotta, and Anri Uchida) and received the Key of Fun. Finally, SAMMY THE FUNKY MONKEY (Rin Shinkai) and the TAMBOURINES (Ako Saiba, Rintaro Inayoshi, and Senan Glesson) gave them the Key of Good Soul. With their three keys, the children returned to Jollyville, unlocked the magical chest, and found the ultimate treasure, Happiness.
And this year’s showcase was notable for one more very important contribution. Cloe-Naili Beauchemin’s amazing costume design brought a level of polish and style that made the shows look fantastic. Thank you, Cloe!
All three performances: Eigo de Tap, The Cat Who Walked by Herself, and The Jollyville Treasure were all done under the direction and coaching of Jeff Fritch. Over the course of the year, Jeff worked with all the performers, preparing them for stage and teaching choreography. He also designed and made all the music for The Jollyville Treasure, which the kids really enjoyed singing together. Thank you, Jeff, for all your hard work!

こども食堂 Qchan 2024
(English Below) 世界中どこの地域であれ特に子ども達の食を満たすことはどの家庭においても大きな課題の一つです。もし、お腹が満たされていない子供がいるとすればとても心が痛みます。毎日栄養価の高い温かい食事を不自由なく提供される子ども達がいる一方、そうではない、学校の給食だけが頼りの子ども達もたくさんいることを忘れてはなりません。各地域の子ども食堂はそんな成長期の子ども達の食育をサポートし、温かい食事を提供する活動を担っています。
名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアは地域の子ども達の食育活動を支援したく、２年前に子ども食堂Qchanに寄付をいたしました。子ども食堂Qchanは、東区代官町で平日の月から金まで毎晩温かい食事を作って子ども達を暖かく迎えています。
名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアは「ショーケース」舞台の収益金より毎月１０キロのお米を子ども食堂「Qchan」に届けています。今年の夏、お米不足になった時はお米が手に入らず、うどんやパスタ、そうめんで凌いだそうです。１週間で２０キロ近くのお米を消費するそうなので、１０キロのお米は微力ですが、少しでも子ども達のお腹を満たししてくれたら嬉しいです。
子ども食堂の活動は支援を必要とする成長期の子ども達の発育を助け、学校生活への活力となり、将来の希望に繋がっていくことでしょう。お腹が空いていたら勉強にも集中できません。そして、子ども達が健康であれば、健全な社会を作り上げることができます。子とも達が成長して大人になった時、健全な地域社会作りへより貢献してくれることでしょう。
コロナ前の２０１９年に立ち上がった名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアはパンデミックを乗り越え２０２４年１２月公演で５回目を迎えます。子ども達による英語演劇活動は多くの方々の協力のおかげで毎年大成功を収め、地域の子ども達への支援活動にも繋がっています。この活動がこの先も長く継続できますよう、皆様のご協力ご協力を賜りますようお願い申し上げます。
In many communities across the country, hunger remains an ongoing challenge that affects families, and perhaps most heartbreakingly, children. While many children enjoy the comfort of a warm, nutritious meal each day, there are many who do not have that luxury. 子供食堂 (Kitchens for Children in Need) play a vital role in combating this issue and ensuring that all kids have the nourishment they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
Nagoya Players and Nagoya Players Junior are once again happy to support こども食堂 QChan. Five days a week, the chefs and kitchen staff provide fresh, hot, nutritious meals for local children in need.
Proceeds from the NPJ Showcase will be used to supply Qchan with 10 kg of rice per month for one year. We hope that this donation of fresh rice will fill many bellies and provide the children with the energy and stamina they need to learn and grow.
Kitchens for Children in Need can help break the cycle of hunger. When children are well-nourished, they’re more likely to succeed in school and in life, setting them up for a future where they can become self-sufficient. Healthier kids lead to healthier communities. They will grow into adults who are able to contribute more effectively to society, passing on the values of compassion and generosity forward.
Nagoya Players Junior began in 2019. We have produced several shows designed for and performed by children. The project continues to grow and see success. We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed. Proceeds from these productions will be donated to local charities. Your support of the children we feature on stage also supports children in need. This has been a very fun and fulfilling project that we hope to continue for many years to come.

We’ve got another fantastic, fun, and family-friend showcase planned with tons of music, dance, and acting. The NPJ Showcase has become a highlight every theater season, please don’t miss it.
