The next generation of artists are showing a lot of promise! Aesop’s Fables cast member Naudia Patterson lead this group of young Picasso’s through the process of making their own Doodle Art.
Naudia started the workshop with some dramatic readings of the fables and then taught the group all the shapes they needed to use in English. The participants then tried creating their own unique patterns. The youngest kids struggled a bit with spatial recognition, but thankfully their wonderful mommies and daddies were there to guide them with a steady hand.
This was a really fun family-event and we love to see parents with their children doing activities together in English. Bringing families together is a huge motivation for Aesop’s Fables. We’re really looking forward to the big show and seeing all the happy, smiling faces in the theater!

次世代アーティストたちが素晴らしい才能を発揮！
英語劇「イソップ物語」のキャストのナディア・パターソンが子供ピカソたちにDoodle Art創作を指導してくれました。
まず、最初に「イソップ物語」を演劇スタイルで朗読し、色んな形をもちろん英語で指導しました。その後、各々が色んな形を組み合わせることにより独自の柄を創り出して行きました。
３歳の幼児の参加者はパパママの助けを借りて、楽しく線を描くことができました。
英語を使って親子で一緒にアートを楽しめるとても素晴らしい時間を過ごせたことが今後の英語学習へのモチベーションに繋がることでしょう。
英語劇「イソップ物語」は年齢を問わず、ご家族みなさんで楽しいんでいただける作品です。

Aesop Video-Storybook

It’s fascinating to see the minds of children at work. Nagoya Players collaborated with local art and language school IPE Academy to design a project that would combine English education with the visual arts. And what resulted is the very wacky, yet very intriguing, Aesop Video-Storybook.
Five groups of children, ages 5-10, were each given a fable to illustrate scene by scene. The kids spent a total of 6 weeks learning the fables in English, while at the same time applying layer after layer of paint and texture until their masterpieces were complete.
Nagoya Player’s music director Robert Beatty laid down the soundtrack, and cast members Amy Bruan, Denise Hewitt and Naudia Patterson lent their voices to the fable readings. Aesop’s Fables show director Shawn Mahler then collected all the artwork and put everything together in video form for you to enjoy.
This project was done as part of Nagoya’s Players English Education Initiative (EEI).

子供達の想像の世界はとても頼もしいです。名古屋プレイヤーズはIPEアカデミーとコラボしイソップ物語ビデオストーリーを制作しました。
５歳から１０歳の子供達が５つのグループに分かれ、各グループが一つのお話の絵を描きました。始めにお話を英語で勉強し、描きたい場面を自ら選び、背景を描き、登場する動物を布の切り絵で仕上げました。
名古屋プレイヤーズの音楽担当ロバート・ビーティが各お話に音楽をつけ、キャストメンバーのエイミー・ブロン、デニース・ヘウィット、ナディア・パターソンがお話を朗読しました。そして、イソップ物語舞台監督ショーン・マーラーがこれら絵画、音楽、朗読を一つにまとめビデオに仕上げました。
この企画は名古屋プレーヤーズ（EEI:英語教育研究会）の活動の一環であります。

Audition Photography Workshop Wrap Up

Our first Audition Photography Workshop was an interesting and informative session hosted by the team of George Van Horn, John Ahern and Geof Griggs. We had an interesting mix of participants from children, to university students, to working adults and parents. It was fascinating to see and hear how this varied group viewed photography and it was even more fun to see them learn classic posing.
オーディション応募写真のワークショップ第1回は、ジョージ・ヴァンホーン、ジョン・アハーン、ジェフ・グリッグズ各氏を講師に迎えて開催され、面白く有益な講習会になりました。参加者の顔ぶれは、子どもからお父さん、お母さん、大学生、社会人までと、バラエティー豊かでした。それぞれの写真に対する考え方を知るのは大変興味深く、また典型的なポーズの型を学ぶ様子は見ていてさらに楽しいものでした。
Mr. Ahern started the workshop with some sound advice for people trying to break into acting in Japan. Looking the part and presenting yourself professionally are the keys to success.
ワークショップを始めるにあたり、アハーン講師が日本で演劇を志す人々に役立つアドバイスをしてくれました。いかに役を掘り下げ、自分自身をプロらしく表現できるかが成功へのカギなのです。
Then Mr. Van Horn gave a very detailed and insightful presentation covering topics like his experience as an actor on a Japanese drama, the role of agents, the hallmarks of good profile photos, and the principles of portraiture.
次にヴァンホーン講師がとても示唆に富んだプレゼンを行い、その中で自身が日本のドラマに出演した経験、エージェントの役割、良い応募写真の特徴、ポートレート写真の鉄則などを詳しく話してくれました。
Mr. Van Horn then lead the group with step by step instructions on how to achieve the classic ‘C’ and ‘S’ poses. And Geof Griggs was behind the camera making the magic happen.
それからヴァンホーン氏は、段階を踏んで代表的なCポーズとSポーズの取り方を指導しました。ジェフ・グリッグズ講師は、最高の瞬間を捉えるべくカメラを構えていました。
This is one of the most informative workshops we’ve organized and we’re planning on hosting it again. If you’re serious about acting and modeling this is a must-attend event.
今回のワークショップは、私達が今まで開催した中でも最も有益なものの一つで、もう一度行う事を計画中です。これは、真剣に役者やモデルを目指す方には絶対に見逃せないイベントです。

Aesop Storytime at IPE Academy

“Heeee Haaaaw! Oh, that was great fun!”
Our first Aesop Storytime Kids Workshop was a blast! These little guys were amazing. So smart and very quick learners.
Cast member Naudia read to the children and imparted some very valuable morals upon their young minds. However, to break up all that morality she also lead the group through a series of games and challenges!
It wasn’t just playtime though, the children also did writing exercises and they got homework! Oh, what fun!
Thank you to the kids and parents for an exciting day of storytelling and learning. And a big thank you to IPE Academy for hosting us!

子供達はとても積極的に楽しく参加できました！！
キャストのナディアさんがとても為になるお話を子供達に読み聞かせ子供達の心にも届いたことでしょう。ゲームやアクティビティを通してもっと印象付けられたと思います。
その他にもワークシートでライティングも取り入れ、宿題のシートもありました。
参加してくれた子供達、協力いただいた保護者の方々、また、ワークショップを支援してくれたIPEアカデミー みなさんのご協力 本当にありがとうございました。

即興劇 ワークショップ 写真ギャラリー
先日開催されましたImprov Workshop にご参加いただきありがとうございました。様々なゲームやアクティビティを通してダリアンとジョンに楽しく指導していただけました。とてもエネルギッシュで有意義な１日でたくさんの笑いと思い出が作れました。
ヨガインストラクターのマシューさんにはヨガのデモンストレーションをしていただき、１日の終わりをヨガで締めくくり穏やかな気持ちで終了することができました。
今後は演技指導ワークショップに加えて、照明や舞台デザイン、衣装、音楽などの技術的なワークショップなども企画予定しています。名古屋プレーヤーズのホームページやフェイスブックなどに情報をアップしていきますので、ご覧くださるようお願いします。

Improv Workshop Photo Gallery
Thanks to everyone who participated in Nagoya Players’ Improv Workshop. Darian and John did a fantastic job leading our improv actors through a series of games and exercises. It was a high energy day with people literally bouncing off the walls. There were a lot of laughs and great memories. A big thank you to Matthew White and Yoga Gives Back for the awesome yoga demonstration and ending our day with a soothing and relaxing cool down.
