名古屋プレイヤーズJr.がお届けする２０２０年最新ワークショップ。
ボディーコントロール・コーディネーション・タイミングを学び、体を動かしながら楽しく英語が学べるダンスレッスン。
今回は第１弾として１月〜３月に月１回、合計３回のワークショップを企画。
１９７９年アカデミー賞受賞作品ミュージカル・グリースをモデルにジェフ先生が子供用にアレンジをして指導します。
各ワークショップでは、ダンスだけではなくゲームや英語単語、リズム練習などを英語で指導しますので、英語環境を作り、効果的に英語が学べます。

日本とアメリカにて３０年に渡り色んなジャンルのダンスを指導。
また、英語指導員としても定評。
２０１９年１２月公演の英語劇「賢者の贈り物」では舞台ダンスを創作、指導。
現在、本山にあるスタジオRと大治町で「英語でタップ」を大人に指導。

Nagoya Players’ English Education Initiative
EEI ( ナゴヤ・プレイヤーズ英語教育研究会）では英語習得を目指しているの方々が楽しみながら英語をマスターできるようサポート活動しています。
生きた英語を身につけるにはなるべく早い段階で英語環境を作ることが鍵だと考えます。
バイリンガルの子供達は月齢が早い段階で、その外国語環境を整えることにより外国語を身につけています。それは将来に向けての揺るぎない財産になることは間違いありません。そこで、私たち名古屋プレイヤーズは「初級」「中級」「上級」を対象にしたプログラムを作成し英語環境作りをお手伝いして参ります。
Christmas Carol Workshop Wrap Up
Nagoya Players and Nagoya Union Church recently teamed up for a very unique and special event — NP’s Christmas Carol Workshop.
Christmas carols are an integral part of the holiday. For many people the tunes are familiar, the lyrics catchy, and the melodies easily put us in the holiday spirit. Yet, many of these songs carry with them deep and profound meaning. They retell traditions and stories from the Bible and for practitioners of the faith, they are songs of worship.
Pastor Michael Larsen gave an easy to follow presentation about the history of the carols. He cited several examples of where the carols can be found in the Bible and what the lyrics refer to. The Nagoya Players Choir joined in and sang a few carols mentioned in the presentation. We heard Joy to the World announcing the birth of baby Jesus and the melancholy yet powerful, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. It was absolutely enchanting hearing them sung so beautifully within the walls of a church.
The Nagoya Players Choir has morphed and evolved since we started production of The Gift of the Magi back in April of 2019. It’s been several months of continuous work and improvement. This was definitely on the hardest parts of the show to prepare, but one which we are the most proud of. Thank you to the Choir and our Choir Director Shawnna Hunter for creating something so wonderful from scratch.
After the presentation and carol demonstration, the NP Choir lead the congregation in a round of We Wish You A Merry Christmas. The workshop was then followed by a delicious and bountiful Fellowship Super hosted by NUC.
It was a perfect Sunday filled with good tidings, worship and cheer!

Sing in English Workshop
(English Below) 名古屋プレイヤーズとIPEアカデミーの共同企画 Sing in English ワークショップにお邪魔してきました。このワークショップでは「Up On The Housetop」というクリスマスソングを練習しています。背筋を伸ばして、かっこよく立つ方法、声の出し方、発音の仕方などを丁寧に指導。頑張って歌詞も覚えてきてくれました。
このパフォーマンスは１２月８日（日曜日）東文化小劇場で公演の英語劇「賢者の贈り物」の前座で出演することになっています。牧島先生の合唱団５人も加わり、１２人の子供たちと大きなサンタさんが可愛らしいオープニンを飾ってくれることでしょう。

We recently stopped by to visit the kids participating in Nagoya Players and IPE Academy’s Sing in English Workshop. For the past few weeks they’ve been learning the lyrics and how to sing the Christmas classic Up on the Housetop. And as a special bonus, they’ll get to perform the song live at the NP’s The Gift of the Magi.
These guys are adorable and very hardworking! It’s going to be super fun having them open the show for us. The Sing in English kids will be our warm-up act for the Sunday, Dec. 8th 12:00 performance. A special treat for anyone attending that show!

「賢者の贈り物」バイリンガル絵本•The Gift of the Magi Bilingual Picture Book

2ヶ国語の絵本「賢者の贈り物」は何ヶ月もの時間をかけ、芸術と教育の専門家が力を合わせ心を込めて作り上げました。この絵本を通して子供達が英語学習の楽しさを知り、舞台芸術を楽しんでもらえることを願っています。
最初に絵本の英日版を発表しますが、タガログ語、フランス語、スペイン語など他の言語による絵本もここ数週間中に順次発表致します。
さらに上のレベルの絵本も鋭意制作中です。こちらは中高生向けで英検に出てくる文法や語彙もカバーしています。
イラスト及び美術を担当してくれたウェイン・ウィルソン氏には心から感謝致します。個性豊かな画風と絵で物語を伝える才能において彼の右に出る者はいないでしょう。
また日本語翻訳と編集を担当してくれた高橋かがり氏と、校正編集を担当してくれた松島良子氏にもお礼申し上げます。
絵本は自由にダウンロードして使って下さいご利用ください。この本が愛知から日本を越え世界中の教室やご家庭で読んでもらえることを願っています。

It’s been a labor of love putting together our newest education offering. The Gift of the Magi Bilingual Picture Book is the product of months of hard work by a dedicated team of artists and educators. We’ve designed this book to motivate children and support them with their English studies. We want to get them excited about the world of theater and arts.
This first release is the English-Japanese version of the text. Additional languages like Tagalog, French, Spanish and more will be coming out soon over the next few weeks.
A more advanced edition is also being prepared. It will be aimed at Jr High School and High School students with a focus on grammar and vocabulary found in the Eiken exam.
We’d especially like to thank Wayne Wilson for being our illustrator and artist. His unique style and ability to tell story through image is second to none.
We’d also like to thank Kagari Takahashi for providing the Japanese translation and being a very precise and thoughtful editor. And to Yoshiko Matsushima as well for her proofing and editing.
The book is FREE to download and use. We hope that it will make its way into classrooms and living rooms across Aichi, Japan and the world.

クリスマスキャロルワークショップ•Christmas Carol Workshop
名古屋プレイヤーズとNagoya Union Church (NUC) は、この度共同で11月24日にクリスマスキャロルワークショップを開催致します。私たちの「歌とお話とお祈りの夕べ」にぜひお越しください。
マイケル・ラーソン牧師がいくつかのクリスマスキャロルにまつわるお話を英語で語って下さいます。それらは全て名古屋プレイヤーズが制作中の劇「賢者の贈り物」に出てくる歌です。次に名古屋プレイヤーズのコーラスグループが素敵な歌を披露します。皆さんも一緒に歌って下さいね!
ワークショップは15:00に始まり約45分間です。次に続く礼拝の時間は16:00~17:00で、その後NUCのご厚意によるフェローシップサパー（軽食）が供されます。

Act in English at Saorina
This past year Nagoya Players has been working with performers and educators to design shows and programs that cater to the needs of our local communities. One area we felt could use some attention was English performance activities for youth. Veteran NP performer Biagino Cristiano joined us as acting coach and English instructor for our new workshop series for children, Act in English.
Biagino lead a special, limited-time, summer camp at Saorina in Tsu-City, Mie Prefecture. The camp ran for a total of ten days. Children learned the basics of theater performance and were led through a series of warm up exercises to strengthen the body, enhance the power of their voices, improve pronunciation and learn how to express emotion.
Each session was an energetic hour of cooperation games, scene work and English practice. The children learned a short play, The Animals and the Plague based on the famous fable by Aesop. On their tenth and final day they gave a mini-performance to an audience of very proud moms and dads. Upon completion of the camp they received their acting certificates and some of them now believe they’re ready for the big stage!
Act in English: Saorina was a huge success. Biagino will be running his own workshop inspired by the Act in English curriculum called, Drama in English in Kameyama, Mie on select dates from September to November. For more information please visit Biagino’s school website, Matsusaka English:

大好評につき名古屋プレイヤーズ「イソップ物語」英語教材を新しく本にしました。多くの方よりフィードバックをいただき、子供たちが親しみやすく読んでいただけるように制作しました, 「イソップ物語」バイリンガル絵本。

制作にあたり、IPEアカデミーより協力を賜り、挿絵になる子供達の作品を提供いただきました。IPEアカデミーと協賛してプロジェクトを推進し、英語学習をする子供達に、より多くの英語環境を提供し、劇場で生の英語に触れるだけではなく、この本を何度も繰り返して読むうちに、英語が自然に身体に染み込み定着できることを願っています。今後もIPEアカデミーと協力の上、色んな学習教材を企画しておりますので、お楽しみにしていてください。

CAMPFIRE 絵本のプロジェクト

名屋プレイヤーズはこの度新しいプロジェクトを立ち上げました。CAMPFIREというクラウドファンディング・サイトを通してできるだけ多くの皆様からご理解とご支援を賜り、このプロジェクトを成功させたいと心より願っております。
また、私たち名古屋プレイヤーズは英語演劇活動だけではなく、それに伴う語学学習や学習支援の推進にも力を注いでいます。
次回作「賢者の贈り物」の公演にあたり、子どもたちのために多言語の絵本を制作しました。私たちは資金を募ってこの本を出版し、出来上がった本を病院、孤児院、保育所、恵まれない子供たちの施設などに寄付したいと考えています。もしもこの本が恵まれない子どもたちに小さな喜びとやる気をプレゼントできるなら、こんなに 嬉しいことはありません。

2019年の名古屋プレイヤーズは「誰もが楽しめる劇」をテーマに活動していますが、家族全員が楽しめることをとても大切にしています。私たちは、特に若い世代と子どもたちが劇に参加してくれる事を強く望んでいます。昨年以来とても充実した活動を行っていますが、このようなプロジェクトを実施することにより、これからもさらに発展していきたいと願っています。もしもこのCAMPFIRE計画が成功すれば、もっと多くのより良い補助教材を今後の公演のために提供することができます。このキャンペーンが成功しますよう暖かいご支援をお願い申し上げます。恵まれない子供たちに絵本を届けるという私たちの目標を達成するためには、皆様のお力が必要なのです。

Nagoya Players is very excited (and a bit nervous) to announce an ambitious new project.
We have launched our first ever crowdfunding project on Camp-fire.jp.
With every theatrical production we do, we also make companion materials to support language education and acquisition.
For our next show, The Gift of the Magi, we have developed a multilingual picture book for child learners. We’d like to find the funds to produce a psychical print run and then donate these copies to hospitals, orphanages, care-centers and charities that attend to children in need. It is our hope that the gift of these books brings a little joy and inspiration to children who may need it the most.

Our theme for the 2019 season has been Accessibility & Inclusivity, with an emphasis on family-entertainment. We’ve focused especially on encouraging youth and children to participate in our shows. It’s been a wildly productive year thus far. We hope to continue building on this momentum with projects such as this. If our CAMPFIRE project proves successful, you can expect more and better companion materials for future productions. Please help us by supporting the campaign. イタリア生まれでイギリス育ち。イギリスの劇場で働き、演じることを学ぶ。日本で数多くの舞台を作り上げてきました。今後は三重県松阪市にMatsusaka Englishをオープンする予定です。
クリスティアーノ•ビアジーノは２０年以上も子供たちとこのようなワークショップを通して関わっています。英語という言葉を話すときに不安な気持ちや恥ずかしい気持ちを子供たちが抱くことをよく理解しています。それらを劇で全身で表現することによりその殻を破ること、そして人に伝える喜びを通し英語がスムーズに出てくることを今回のワークショップの目標としています。

Act In English ワークショップ
英語劇で英語を学ぶ
名古屋プレイヤーズ英語劇「イソップ物語」には多くの方に足を運んでいただき大成功を収めることができ、ありがとうございました。そこで、２０２０年にも「イソップ物語」をバージョンアップさせて再公演を計画しています。次回はイソップ・キッズをプラス。子供達が英語のセリフを覚えて舞台に立ち、より英語の表現力や活用力を高めることができる、またとない英語学習のチャンスです。
子供演者による「イソップ・キッズ」は名古屋プレイヤーズの監督ショーン・マーラーがセリフを子供用に書き換え、演劇指導はロバ役を演じたナディアさんが担当いたします。
このワークショップではまず、セリフに出てくる英単語、英文法を習得し暗唱します。暗唱ができたら演技指導に入ります。声の出し方、体の動かし方、感情表現方法や人間から動物へのトランスフォーム（変換）など演劇の基礎を学びます。

ナディア・パターソン（英語講師、俳優、歌手、禅アーティスト）
ジャマイカ出身の彼女は医療関係に従事していましたが、探究心と教育への情熱が来日するこきっかけとなりました。来日後、元々自己の中に秘めていたアートの才能を改めて発掘し、英語を教える傍ら演劇、作詩、声楽など様々なアート分野で活躍しています。最近では名古屋プレイヤーズ公演英語劇「イソップ物語」で世界で一つ、とてもユニークなロバを演じ多くの観客を魅了しました。
