COVID-19 has affected countless people and disrupted the way we live our lives. 2020 was an extremely difficult year, yet we are grateful that our performance group has remained active and productive in these very challenging times. We are hopeful that with the development of new vaccines, treatments and safety measures live performance will soon make a return.
We are preparing two events for 2021. For children we will conduct a series of performance based workshops in English during Mirai Fes 2021. And for our theater lovers we are bringing you an American classic, Thornton Wilder’s Our Town.
２０２０年はコロナ禍で日常が一変し多くの人々が影響を受けてしまいました。そんな困難な状況の中、私たちパフォーマンスグループは活動をなんとか継続し無事に新年を迎えられたことに感謝の気持ちで満ちています。新開発されたワクチンが効果をもたらし新型コロナウイルス感染が収束し、ライブパフォーマンスが安心して再開できることを望むばかりです。
２０２１年名古屋プレイヤーズは２つのイベントを予定しています。１つ目は２０２１年３月に開催される「未来フェス」にて子供たちに向けたワークショップを行います。そして、去年延期となってしまったアメリカ古典文学「わが町」ソーントン・ウィルダー作を６月にお届けすることになっています。
MIRAI FES 2021, March 13-14th
We will start the year with a weekend of English-performance workshops for children at MIRAI Fes 2021, March 13-14th, Higashi Playhouse. Nagoya Players is very proud to be a part of the 20th Assitej World Congress.
ASSITEJ (International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People) is a global organisation for the performing arts for children and young people which was founded in 1965 in Paris. Uniting organisations and individuals who make theatre for children and young people, ASSITEJ is dedicated to the artistic, cultural and educational rights of children and young people across the globe and advocates on behalf of all children regardless of nationality, cultural identity, ability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or religion. ASSITEJ brings people together so that they can share knowledge and practice within the field of theatre for children and young people in order to deepen understandings, develop practice, create new opportunities and strengthen the global sector.
These workshops are brought to you by Nagoya Players Junior. Our youth programming has proven very popular and has shown considerable growth. In order to serve the children in our community we have created a team under the Nagoya Players umbrella that will focus on youth-oriented content.
ミライフェス 2021 3月13日（土）14日（日）
名古屋プレイヤーズは2021年度最初の活動として、3月13,14日名古屋東小劇場で行われるミライフェス 2021において、子供達のための英語劇ワークショップを開催します。私達は第20回国際児童青少年舞台芸術協会(Assiteji)の世界大会に参加できる事を大変誇りに思います。
国際児童青少年舞台芸術協会（International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People）は、1965年にパリで設立された、児童青少年演劇のための国際組織です。各国のアシテジ(ASSITEJI)センターのほか、プロフェッショナルネットワークや個人会員が加盟し、アシテジ日本センターは1979年に36番目の加盟国として参加しました。アシテジは世界中で児童青少年のための舞台芸術に関わる個人や団体を統括する組織で、知識や実践の共有、発展に貢献することで世界の児童青少年演劇の質を高め、さらに国籍や文化、民族、宗教にかかわらず、世界のすべての子どもたちの代弁者となることに尽力しています。
今回のワークショップでは名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアがデビューします。これまでに行った青少年向けの活動が大変好評でしたので、名古屋プレイヤーズの下部組織として新しくチームを作る事になりました。このチームは青少年向けの演劇作品を上演します。

Our Town by Thornton Wilder is a Pulitzer Prize-winning play that has become one of America’s best known and most beloved shows. The story centers on the residents in the small town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. It’s a story of the ‘every-town’, a place we are all familiar with. Grover’s Corners represents core values shared by communities and cultures all across the world.
The show is performed in three Acts, with each act embracing the themes of Life, Love and Death.
Wilder’s writing has been praised for his beautiful delivery of universal truths. He speaks clearly and openly about what it means to be human. Our Town is a wonderful combination of humor, wisdom and sincerity. It is a fantastic show to experience live and a story that will stay with you forever.
「わが町」6月12日（土）13日（日）
ソーントン・ワイルダーの「わが町」は、アメリカで1938年にピューリツァー賞を受賞し、最も愛される演目の一つに挙げられる作品です。ニューハンプシャーのグローバーズ・コーナーズという小さな町の住民たちを中心とした物語で、世界中のどこの町にでも起こりうる日常生活を表現しています。そしてグローバーズ・コーナーズは、世界中のコミュニティーや文化が共有する価値観の象徴でもあります。
この舞台はそれぞれ｢人生、愛、死｣をテーマに3幕で構成されています。
ワイルダーの作品は、普遍の真実を見事に描いていることで定評があります。彼は人間であることの意味についてはっきりとオープンに語ります。「わが町」はユーモア、賢明さ、誠実さが見事に一体となった作品です。永遠に心に残る人生と物語とを共に体験することができる素晴らしい舞台です。
