イソップ物語•英語でのプレゼンテーション

世界中で永遠に読み継がれているイソップ物語

英語劇イソップ物語の監督ショーン•マーラーと共に
英語でのプレゼンテーション•討論会•Q&A

ワークショップの活動内容とテーマ

ギリシャの話し手イソップは世界で最も受け継がれ続ける有名な寓話を作りました。そして、これら寓話は世界中の主要な言語に翻訳され、教育現場においても道徳や教訓を教える教材として使われています。しかしながら、これらの寓話は子供達だけのものではありません。これら寓話が作られた本当の経緯は社会的な権力や政府などに訴えるのもでした。

ではイソップとは何者だったんでしょうか？なぜ、これら寓話はそんなにも力強いんでしょうか？

作家であり舞台映画監督でもあるショーン・マーラーがイソップ物語の歴史や謎を解いていきます。そして、参加者の皆さんとイソップ物語が現代社会とどのように関わっているのかを話し合います。

    Aesop Video-Storybook

    It’s fascinating to see the minds of children at work. Nagoya Players collaborated with local art and language school IPE Academy to design a project that would combine English education with the visual arts. And what resulted is the very wacky, yet very intriguing, Aesop Video-Storybook.

    Five groups of children, ages 5-10, were each given a fable to illustrate scene by scene. The kids spent a total of 6 weeks learning the fables in English, while at the same time applying layer after layer of paint and texture until their masterpieces were complete.

    Nagoya Player’s music director Robert Beatty laid down the soundtrack, and cast members Amy Bruan, Denise Hewitt and Naudia Patterson lent their voices to the fable readings. Aesop’s Fables show director Shawn Mahler then collected all the artwork and put everything together in video form for you to enjoy.

    This project was done as part of Nagoya’s Players English Education Initiative (EEI).

    子供達の想像の世界はとても頼もしいです。名古屋プレイヤーズはIPEアカデミーとコラボしイソップ物語ビデオストーリーを制作しました。

    ５歳から１０歳の子供達が５つのグループに分かれ、各グループが一つのお話の絵を描きました。始めにお話を英語で勉強し、描きたい場面を自ら選び、背景を描き、登場する動物を布の切り絵で仕上げました。

    名古屋プレイヤーズの音楽担当ロバート・ビーティが各お話に音楽をつけ、キャストメンバーのエイミー・ブロン、デニース・ヘウィット、ナディア・パターソンがお話を朗読しました。そして、イソップ物語舞台監督ショーン・マーラーがこれら絵画、音楽、朗読を一つにまとめビデオに仕上げました。

    この企画は名古屋プレーヤーズ（EEI:英語教育研究会）の活動の一環であります。

    Family Doodle Art! ドゥ―ドルアート

    WHAT TO EXPECT
    ドゥ―ドルアートを楽しもう！

    Doodle Art is an easy-to-learn form for artists and non-artists alike. Doodle Art lets us turn simple strokes into “seemingly” complicated patterns and fascinating works of art. Artistic skills aren’t a requirement for this workshop! You’ll be guided through each step by ZenArtist Naudia Patterson. Everyone in attendance will create their own Doodle Art masterpiece.

    This workshop is family friendly. Parents with young children can learn Doodle Art together! And of course, older participants can Doodle on their own. Learn a simple and relaxing way to express your core artistic side. You will be surprised how easy it is to produce beautiful, stunning artwork!

    ドゥードルアートは、絵画のプロもアマも同様に楽しく学べる画法です。ドゥードルアートを学べば、シンプルな線描がちょっと複雑な模様の素敵なアート作品に仕上がります。
    *Doodle（ドゥードル）:いたずら書き

    このワークショップでは絵の描き方を知らなくても大丈夫！禅アーティストのナーディア・パターソンが順序だてて丁寧に教えてくれるので、参加すれば自分だけのドゥードルアートの傑作が作れます。ワークショップには小さなお子様も一緒にご家族ぐるみで参加いただけます。もちろんお一人でも、お子様だけでも、またはお友達と一緒でも参加大歓迎です。ドゥードルアートを学んで、あなたの隠れた芸術的センスを気軽に楽しく表現しましょう。素晴らしい美術作品を創作するのは、実はとても簡単なのです！

    Naudia Patterson, English Language Teacher and ZenArtist

    Naudia is a Jamaican medical professional who moved to Japan to pursue her passion for adventure and teaching. It was here that she rekindled the fire within her for the Arts. Two years ago she discovered Mandala Art and has since been using it as a means of active meditation for her own spiritual and personal growth. She incorporates “Doodle Art” in her creations. Her other artistic callings include poetry, drama and music (classical vocalist).

    ナーディア・パターソン（英語講師、禅アーティスト）

    ナーディアはジャマイカ出身で医療関係に従事していましたが、冒険と英語教育をこよなく愛し、それらを実践するために来日しました。そしてここ日本でアートに再び目覚めたのです。2年前曼荼羅アートに出会ってから、自身の精神と人格的成長を目指す“行動瞑想”の方法としてそれを用いています。作品にはドゥードルアートも取り入れています。ナーディアはまた詩人、役者、声楽家としても活躍しています。

    English Education Initiative (EEI)

    Nagoya Players’ English Education Initiative (EEI) has been developed to encourage a life-long love of language study in the residents of Nagoya. From youth to adults we are creating materials and organizing events that will aid learners in the pursuit of mastering the English language. And have fun at the same time!

    We firmly believe that early exposure to English is a key indicator for future success. Children who develop foreign language skills early in life routinely show improved performance at school and gain access to better career opportunities. So with each Nagoya Players’ show we also organize ‘Kids’, ‘Teens’ and ‘Adult’ English programs to encourage them to further pursue their studies.

    EEI ( ナゴヤ・プレイヤーズ英語教育研究会）では英語習得を目指している名古屋の方々が楽しみながら英語をマスターできるようサポート活動しています。
    なるべく早い段階で英語環境を作ることができるかどうかが生きた英語を身につける鍵だと考えます。
    バイリンガルの子供達は月齢が早い段階で、その外国語環境を整えることにより外国語を身につけています。それは将来に向けての揺るぎない財産になることは間違いありません。そこで、私たち名古屋プレイヤーズは「子供」「中高生」「大人」を対象にしたプログラムを作成し英語環境作りをお手伝いしていきたいです。

    Aesop’s Fables cast member Naudia Patterson will read 5 fables from the Aesop Storybook. After each fable Naudia will lead the group in an English game or activity.

    Appropriate for Eiken levels 5~4 or ages 10~14
    ¥500 per person

    IPE Academy becomes Show Supporter

    We are very happy to announce that IPE Academy is now an official Supporter of our upcoming production, Aesop’s Fables.

    IPE Academy is unique amongst language schools in Nagoya. They provide instruction for both English and Japanese learners, but what sets them apart is their Art & Music based curriculum. IPE offers special programs for children to develop their language abilities alongside their creative.

    Nagoya Players and IPE share many core values. We believe in the importance of arts education and finding ways to combine that with language development. They are the perfect partner for Nagoya Players’ English Education Initiative (EEI) and we look forward to working together with them.

    Our first project will be the Study Aesop program. IPE will be hosting Aesop Storytime events in the lead up to the show. These workshops are great for young learners and will teach them a lot of useful vocabulary and phrasing before they see the show!

    Tickets On Sale Now! Aesop’s Fables

    We’re very excited to announce the launch of Aesop’s Fables. We’ve been planning this show for over a year and have gathered many talented artists and actors to put it all together. The show is looking great and we can’t wait to present it you to March 30-31, 2019 at Chikusa Playhouse.

    Tickets are available now via TicketPia (online, Family Mart & 7-11), Cast & Crew, and IPE Academy.

    With this show we’re introducing a special pricing structure that both lowers ticket prices and rewards patrons for buying early. Please take advantage of the lower prices before the window closes. Our special TicketPia offer code 490411 will expire on Feb. 28th, 2019.

    We are a not-for-profit theater group and completely self-funded. We couldn’t make these shows if not for our amazing volunteers and the generosity of our patrons. It may sound cheesy, but we create these shows, “for the love”. It is our way of giving back to the Nagoya community and providing a source of art and entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Through our shows we hope to raise cultural awareness and inspire the people of Nagoya to further partake in English language entertainment and education.
