NPJ Showcase 2022 冬: ‘Forever Friends’ Teaser
(English Below) 名古屋プレイヤーズJr.がお届けする子供ミニ・ミュージカルA Day in the Life of Boogy「みつばちブギーの１日」のご案内動画が出来上がりました!
第３回名古屋プレイヤーズJr.ショーケースの公演はまじかに迫ってきています。毎週土曜日の練習もエンジン全開でクライマックスに。
今回のショーケースは幼児グループと小学生グループの２舞台があります。
幼児グループ（３歳〜６歳）はオリジナル・ミニ・ミュージカルMissy’s Christmasを演じます。英語でのセリフは初舞台でどの子にとってもチャレンジですが、リズムに合わせて歌ったり、踊ったり、とても、可愛らしい演技に観客の皆様の心をほっこりさせてくれます。
小学生グループ（６歳〜１１歳）も歌と踊りと共にオリジナル・ミニ・ミュージカルを演じます。先回の舞台Rainbow Connectionsを楽しんでいただけた方なら、きっとA Day in the Life of Boogyも気に入っていただけること間違いありません。先回と同様にジェフ・フリッチ氏オリジナル作品、ベン・ドーマン氏による作曲そして川上あや氏の綺麗な歌声と１８人の子供たちの演技をお届けします。
ジェフ・フリッチ氏ご自身もタップダンスチーム”英語でタップ”を率いてまた舞台を彩ってくれます。
私共、スタッフ一同、２０２２年１２月に無事に公演できますことを心待ちにしています。また、この舞台制作にご協力いただいた方々、ジェフ・フリッチ氏（演技指導・音楽）/ ベン・ドーマン氏（音楽) / 川上あや氏（ヴォーカル）/ エミリー・ベイリー氏（舞台セット）に感謝申し上げます。

We’ve got a special treat for you today. A little teaser of original music from NPJ’s mini-musical A Day in the Life of Boogy!
Our next installment of the Nagoya Players Junior Showcase is coming soon, and we’re reaching whole new levels of creativity and fun!
NPJ has two troupes of child actors. Our Kindie Troupe (ages 3~6) will perform an original mini-musical, Missy’s Christmas. The Kindies are a mischievous, but very cute bunch. They’ve been working very hard on their English and dance skills for this show. It’s absolutely adorable.
The NPJ Elementary Troupe (ages 6~10) will also be performing an original mini-musical, complete with song and dance. If you enjoyed the music from our previous show Rainbow Connections, then you’re going to love the new music Ben Dorman has created for ‘A Day in the Life of Boogy’. Jeff Fritch is also back directing and choreographing the show. He’s done a marvelous job getting our large cast of 18 kids ready for the stage.
Jeff will also be returning to the NPJ Showcase with his tap dance team, Eigo De Tap, and they’ve always got something funky and fun planned.
A huge thank you to Jeff Fritch (Music), Ben Dorman (Music), and Aya Kawakami (Vocals) for all the hard work and passion they’ve put into this project. We’re so excited to perform live for you this December.

Each year NP Junior designs a show for kids to take on major roles and perform on stage for the public. These shows are designed to further develop both English language and performance skills. It is a great English environment that boosts confidence and communicative abilities in children. And it’s very fun!

「Missy’s Christmas」
３〜６歳の幼児クラスの子供達による可愛らしいファンタジー。クリスマス音楽に合わせて歌ったり踊ったり、雪合戦が始まります。もちろん、Jeff先生のオリジナル曲です。
Featuring a cast of children ages 3-6 this short and cute fantasy is about the wonderment of discovery and growth. Join our cast of snowball throwing misfits as they sing and dance to some Christmas inspired tunes.

Nagoya’s favorite tap dance team is back and they’ve got brand new routine for you. Team leader Jeff has also prepared a special song on his saxophone just for the occasion too!
「A Day in the Life of Boogy」
名古屋プレイヤーズJr.企画オリジナルミュージカル第２弾は「助け合い」をテーマにしたお話です。ブギーとその仲間達、そして、ハリエットはMisty Mountains の山から、Long Valleyの谷を超え、魔法のゼリーを探しに出かけます。違う種類のハチたちに出会い、違いを認め、困っている人に手を差し伸べる大切さを学びます。
NPJ’s second original musical is all about the power of acceptance and friendship. Join Boogy and Harriet as they search for the magical and powerful Super Jelly. Boogy and his team of Bees will dance and sing across the Long Valley and Misty Mountains and take on any challenge to help their new friend. Written and Directed by Jeff Fritch, Music by Ben Dorman, Vocals by Aya Kawakami.

Nagoya Players Production Planning Meeting 2022
Nagoya Players Artistic Director Shawn Mahler will be leading a meeting to discuss possible shows and events for the 2023 theater season. There are a variety of shows that have been proposed. Some possibilities include:
- Works by Edward Albee, Eve Ensler, Anton Chekhov, O. Henry and more
- Original Full Length Plays
- Original One-Acts
- Musicals
- Training Workshops
While we’d love to do it all, unfortunately we can’t. We can realistically only select 1~2 shows for next season. If you’d like to be a part of the discussion and help us decide our upcoming schedule please join us.
NP shows are created through the teamwork, collaboration and volunteerism of our members. We want to hear from you and what gets you excited about theater.

Interview with Our Town’s Holly McNamee
(日本語と英語の字幕) Holly is a new(ish) arrival to Nagoya and has already made a splash on the performing arts scene. She has an extensive background in dance and theater and she’s done such an incredible job in her new roles as MRS GIBBS. We’re very excited to see her take the stage in Nagoya Players’ upcoming production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town.

こども食堂 QChan
(English Below) 名古屋プレイヤーズ及び名古屋プレイヤーズジュニアは非営利団体で、活動により得られた収益金は地域の社会貢献活動に役立てられます。
この度、第２回チャリティーショーケースから100,000円の収益があり、その全額をこども食堂Qchanへ寄付致しました。こども食堂Qchanは支援を必要とする子供達またはその家族に暖かい食事を提供している団体です。
愛知県下にはこども食堂が１３７箇所ありますが、平日月曜日から金曜日まで毎日暖かい食事を無料で提供している所は数少なく、名古屋市には３箇所あります。こども食堂Qchanはその３箇所の中の一つです。
こども食堂Qchanでは平均１日３０食程度、多い時は５０食ほどの暖かい手作りの夕食を無料で提供しています。名古屋プレイヤーズJr.に携わった方々のご協力により、地域の子供達への食育活動に貢献できることを心から感謝いたします。
名古屋プレイヤーズJr.は２０１９年に活動を開始し、参加した子供達の努力とそのご家族のご協力、観客の皆様のおかげで、２回の公演を実現いたしました。今後も実践的な生きた英語の学びの場を子供たちに提供し、同時に地域の子供たちへの支援活動を継続していきたく、引き続き多くの方々のご協力を賜りますよう宜しくお願い致します。

Nagoya Players and Nagoya Players Junior are not-for-profit, community groups. We are always looking for ways to give back to the community that has supported us.
We are happy to announce that we have made a donation of ¥100,000 to こども食堂 QChan. こども食堂 QChan is part of a network of 子供食堂 (Kitchens for Children in Need) that provides hot meals to children and their families who would otherwise not have anything to eat.
こども食堂Qchan is one of the very few kitchens that serves meals daily (Mon-Fri). Up to 30 families a night are provided dinners free of charge. It is an incredibly challenging task they are performing and we are happy to support them in their effort. We hope that the money raised through the Nagoya Players Junior Showcase will aid them in their mission to nourish these children.
Nagoya Players Junior began in 2019 and in that time we’ve been able to produce two shows featuring troupes of extremely talented youngsters. The project continues to grow and see success. We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed. Proceeds from these productions will be donated to local charity. Your support of the children we feature on stage also supports children in need. This has been a very fun and fulfilling project that we hope to continue for many years to come.

Thornton Wilder 125th Anniversary
April 17th, 2022 marked the 125th birthday of Thornton Wilder. To celebrate his fantastic and everlasting works the Thornton Wilder Estate has partnered with a host of theatrical and literary organizations to create a series of events and talks about the famed author and playwright.

先日開催されました２０２２春チャリティショーケースは予想以上の多くのお客様に観覧頂き１公演は満席、２公演はほぼ満席となりました。このショーケースでは子供達による初めてのミュージカル「Rainbow Connections: The Land of Kindness」に挑戦しました。英語でAct & Danceプログラムに参加した子供達は練習を重ね、素晴らしい演技を披露し、誰でも頑張れば目標が達成できることを証明してくれました。
今回はジェフ先生が特別に舞台を率い、タップダンスでショーの幕開け。同時に観客の皆さんにもClap-Tap(手でタップ）を指導し、観客が手のタップでリズムをとり、舞台のダンサーたちが足でタップダンス、舞台と観客が一体となってダンスショーが繰り広げられました。前列に座っていた子供達も一緒に体を動かしタップしている様子が可愛らしく印象的でした。
次にマジック・ジョーが繰り出すマジックは観客の目を釘付けに。まず、会場に来る途中で「ひったくり」にあい「お金をすられてしまった」話から始まりました。でも、「すられたお金」はもちろん、マジックで戻ってきましたよ。また、マジック・ジョーのお得意なトリック、目の錯覚を起こす「新聞を使った手品」を披露。とても不思議なトリックです。
そして、最後はショーケースのメイン演目ミニミュージカル「Rainbow Connections」です。これは、ジェフ先生のオリジナル作品でベン・ドーマン氏が作曲。
約１年をかけて準備を重ね、子供達の英語の指導やパーフォマンススキルを磨きました。子供達はセリフ全部を英語で学び、ダンスも学びました。練習を始めた頃に比べて、子供たちは目覚ましく上達しかつ成長し、最終的には素晴らしい作品を作り上げてくれたことに非常に感動しました。「Rainbow Connections」はリズミカルで観客を楽しませてくれるファンタスティック・アドベンチャー。名古屋プレイヤーズJr.の歴史に残る作品となりました。
会場に足を運んで頂いた観客の皆さん、舞台制作に携わった多くのボランティアの方々に心から感謝申し上げます。
また、多くの方々より賛賞のお言葉を頂き大変嬉しく思います。次回のAct/Dance Wrokshopへの申し込みも既に満員となり、ありがとうございました。
次回の公演は２０２２年１２月１７日（土）１８日（日）を予定しています。Jeff先生とミュージシャン・ベンとのコンビが再びリズミカルなミュージカルを用意しています。

Nagoya Players Junior Showcase Spring 2022
NP Junior is back and stronger than ever:) The Spring 2022 Showcase was a phenomenal success on so many levels. We were able to more than double attendance, selling out one show and nearly selling out two more. This Showcase also featured NP Junior first children’s musical, Rainbow Connections: The Land of Kindness. This musical achieved everything we hoped it would. The kids in our Act & Dance in English programs displayed their incredible talents as performers and dancers. We all learned that with commitment and practice we can accomplish any goal!
This year we had a very special host for the event, Jeff-Sensei. Jeff got the show started with some toe-tapping dance and was then joined by his team from Eigo de Tap. Together they taught the audience how to Clap-Tap. The audience provided the rhythm and the dancers moved their feet. It was a really fun and interactive performance. There were many children in the front rows eager to jump and dance along with Jeff and his tap dancers!
Next, Magic Joe once again stumped audiences with his bag of tricks. He told a story about being robbed on the street! But it was okay because he magically got his money, watch and ring back:) He also showed us one of our favorite tricks, The Illusion of the Torn and Restored Newspaper. It’s one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen and it always leaves the audience absolutely stunned.
And the finale of the Spring Showcase was an original musical, Rainbow Connections, written by Jeff-Sensei and with music by Ben Dorman. This production took almost one year to prepare. The kids participated in English and performance skill training during this time. They had to learn the entire script in English, then how to act and perform it, and finally to dance. So, many skills were involved. At the beginning of the production we weren’t sure if they would be able to do it all. But how wrong we were! Week after week we watched them grow and get stronger. It was a fascinating process. The end result was a funny, fast-paced, fantastic adventure. Rainbow Connections will forever be a highlight in NP’s long history.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended and for everyone who contributed to the making of this show. We have received quite a lot of praise and it is truly humbling. Sign-ups for the next series of Act & Dance workshops have been so great that we’ve gone over capacity!
A second Showcase for 2022 is scheduled for December 17-18 at Youth Square. We’re bringing you another musical and the team of Jeff-Sensei and Ben will be back with more amazing dance routines and music.
We’ve also been able to create a sizeable donation for local charity(s) through this project. We will make an announcement soon about the donation and the charity(s) we will be able to support. Rainbow Connections: The Land of Kindness
みんなで育む子どもの未来フェスティバル Wrap Up
(English below) 名古屋プレイヤーズJr.は３月５・６日開催「みんなで育む子どもの未来フェスティバル」に参加しました。そこでは３つのワークショップを催し、地域の子供達と一緒に英語でのパーフォーマンスを楽しむことができました。
一つ目のワークショップはビアジノ先生の「スティーブの誕生日」。滑稽なワンマンショーで、子供達と一緒にスティーブの誕生日会を準備します。風船ゲームをしたり、マジックツリーで単語学習したり、動物のパペットで歌を歌ったり、誕生日ケーキを焼いたり、大人も子供も笑いでいっぱいに包まれました。
２つ目のワークショップはジェフ先生は英語でダンス。体の部位や動きに関する英語を音楽に合わせて導入していきます。
ワークショップの終了時にはステップをマスターし、まるでミニポップスター！！
三つ目のワークショップはジョー先生の英語でマジックショー。次世代の子供達は不思議なトリックに釘付け。また、コイン、鉛筆、カード、輪ゴムを使って簡単なマジックを指導してくれました。
「みんなで育む子どもの未来フェスティバル」は主催者を始め多くのボランティアの方々のご尽力により大成功を収めることができました。名古屋プレイヤーズJr.は今後も子供達の未来に向けたワークショップ活動をしていきますので、またの機会に皆さんにお会いできることを楽しみにしています。

Nagoya Players Junior participated in みんなで育む子どもの未来フェスティバル (The Festival for the Nurturing of Our Children’s Future) and conducted a series of workshops to teach children both English and performance skills. It was an exciting weekend filled with laughing children and happy parents.
Biagino-sensei started off the event with his very funny one-man show Steve’s Birthday Party. In the show Biagino taught the children basic English vocabulary and together he and the children prepared a party for the titular Steve. There were balloons, a magic tree, and a birthday cake made with fish and cat food!
Next was Jeff-sensei’s Dance in English workshop. Jeff reviewed the parts of the body in English with the children and showed them how to move with the music. By the end of the workshop the kids learned a basic dance routine and looked like mini pop-stars!
And to finish the day Magic Joe inspired the next generation of young magicians with his ESL Magic workshop. Joe taught the children a variety of magic tricks with coins, pencils, cards and rubber bands. After a little practice they were able to do some very neat tricks.
みんなで育む子どもの未来フェスティバル was a huge success. We sincerely thank the organizers and everyone involved for inviting us. We look forward to putting on more workshops for children in the near future!
Announcing the Cast of The Vagina Monologues
(日本語は英語に続く）This one is special. Our 2022 Cast for Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues features some of the best veteran and new acting talent in the city.
Emily Bailey, Amy Braun, Naudia Patterson and Atsumi Yamamoto most recently performed in Nagoya Players’ Gift of the Magi (2019). Atsumi played the lead Della with Amy as her sister Dot. Naudia was the captivating and scary Adjoa and also sang beautiful renditions of Silent Night and We Three Kings. Emily was part of the choir and also a member of the cabaret dance team,Sadie’s Ladies, which was very exciting indeed.
TVM will be the first stage performance with Nagoya Players for KiraKira Kiss and Steph Patterson. KiraKira has previously performed TVM in the U.S., and for her Japanese debut she has something extremely hot and heavy in store for the audience. Steph is a new arrival from the UK and will be bringing a very English twist to her monologue.
And legend of the stage Leona Cameron is back with us and as powerful as ever. We’re so excited to see her on stage again!
TVM will be performed as part of Aichi Vision – Music & Arts Charity Festival. There will only be two performances, Sat. March 26 & Sun. March 27, 16:20 at Youth Square.

【ヴァギナモノローグ】キャスト紹介
今回、イブエンスラー脚本の「ヴァギナモノローグ」を演じるのは名古屋プレイヤーズ、そして名古屋が誇る俳優陣です。
エミリー べイリー、エイミー ブラウン、ナディア パターソン、そして山本温美は、2019年名古屋プレイヤーズ定期公演の「賢者の贈り物」に出演しました。温美は主役のデラ役、エイミーはその姉のドット役を好演しています。ナディアは、魅惑的でそして恐ろしい美容師のアジョア役を魅せてくれ、そして素晴らしい歌声を2曲披露しています。エミリーはコーラスのメンバーでもあり、かつ確実にショーを盛り立てていたキャバレーダンスチームのメンバーのひとりでもあります。
今回、2人のキャストは、名古屋プレイヤーズでは初出演です。芸名キラキラ⭐️キスとステフ パターソン。キラキラは、なんとアメリカで一度ヴァギナモノローグに出演したことがあるそうです。日本での満を持してのデビューです。彼女の演技はとても熱く、重みがあり、楽しんで頂けること間違いありません。ステフはイギリスから来日して間もなく、この芝居にイギリスのアクセントを折り混ぜ、観客の皆様を楽しませてくれるでしょう。
そして、言わずとも知れた女優リオーナ キャメロン。
彼女が名古屋プレイヤーズの舞台に帰ってきてくれました。今まで以上の力強い演技に期待がかかります。
私たち名古屋プレイヤーズの「ヴァギナモノローグ」は愛知ヴィジョン主催のチャリティアートショーの中で公演いたします。
場所は名古屋市青少年交流プラザ・ユーススクエア。3月26日（土）27日（日）の両日一回ずつの公演です。チケットはキャストとスタッフからお求めください。
