Nagoya Players Junior Showcase 2023
名古屋プレイヤーズJr. は毎年、子供英語演劇やミュージカルを企画制作しています。パフォーマンスを通して英語力を高め、人前での発話に自信をつけ、楽しみながら表現力を身に付けていきます。
Each year NP Junior designs a show for kids to take on major roles and perform on stage for the public. These shows are designed to further develop both English language and performance skills. It is a great English environment that boosts confidence and communicative abilities in children. And it’s very fun!

「Toy-Dreams」
NPJ Showcase 2023はKindieグループもメインステージに出演します。主題「Penny’s World of Dreams」のプロローグ「Toy-Dreams」のタイトルで登場。このお話ではおもちゃ屋に並ぶおもちゃ達が新しいマスターに引き取られていくのを待ち侘びるシーンです。Kindieチームは４〜6歳の幼児で構成され、英語で歌ったり踊ったり、とても愛らしいパフォーマンスをお楽しみください。
For this year’s main stage, NPJ’s Kindie troupe will be performing Toy-Dreams, the prologue to Penny’s World of Dreams. In this short scene, a group of toys await a new friend to take them home. NPJ Kindies are our youngest performers, ranging in age from 4~6, and their ability to learn song, dance, and English for the stage is amazing. We hope you enjoy this very cute addition to the show!

名古屋プレイヤーズJr. は毎年、子供英語演劇やミュージカルを企画制作しています。パフォーマンスを通して英語力を高め、人前での発話に自信をつけ、楽しみながら表現力を身に付けていきます。
2023年度も、子供英語ミュージカル「ペニーの夢の世界」を制作しています。ペニーは想像力豊かな女の子。ペニーはおもちゃの仲間達と一緒に欲張りなクッキー泥棒ブタのザッグと恐竜のディディをやっつけ、仲間達を助け出します。そして、その冒険を通して「分かち合い」と「助け合い」の大切さを学びます。
「ペニーの夢の世界」はジェフ・フリッチ氏が振り付け、ベン・ドーマン氏と共に音楽を制作しました。出演者は4歳〜12歳の子供達です。出演者の子供達は数ヶ月間に渡り英語の台詞、歌、ダンスの練習を重ねてきました。その練習の集大成として、１２月に舞台公演予定です。
是非、お友達をお誘いの上、子供達の練習の成果を鑑賞いただき、応援していただけますと幸いです。
NPJ Showcase 2023 will feature a full-length musical with children performers, Penny’s World of Dreams. Penny is a young girl with a big imagination. Penny and her team of toys work together to rescue their friends from the greedy cookie-thieves, Zag the Pig and DD the Dinosaur. Through their journey, all the characters will learn important lessons about the value of sharing and caring for others.
Penny’s World of Dreams will feature original choreography by Jeff Frtich and original music by Ben Dorman and Jeff Fritch. Performers in the show will feature children from the ages of 4~12. In preparation for the show, NPJ performers rehearse acting, singing, dancing, and English skills for several months. The show will be the culmination of all their hard work. Please come watch and give them your support.

Jeff先生率いる英語でタップダンスチームが今年もやってきます。オリジナルタップダンスで観客の皆様をアドベンチャーの世界へ誘います。また、今年は中国民族楽器二胡の演奏が加わり、ジャズソング「Around the World 」と共にお楽しみください。
One of Nagoya’s favorite tap dance teams is back, and they’ve got a brand new routine for you. They will take you on an adventure with their original tap rhythms. This year’s performance will feature live Niko instrumentals and a jazz rendition of Around the World. Put your hands together for Eigo de Tap!

お知らせ (ENGLISH BELOW)
2022年冬の子供英語劇チャリティーショーは４公演満席となり、沢山の方々に観覧いただき御礼申し上げます。おかげ様でNPO法人（子育て支援を考える会）TOKOTOKO様へチケット売り上げの一部を寄付することが出来ました。NPO法人（子育て支援を考える会）TOKOTOKOは知多市を拠点に小規模保育園「ひだまりの家」「さざなみの家」と多機能型児童発達支援事業所「そよかぜ」を運営し支援活動をされています。
TOKOTOKOを率いる坂先生は長年に渡り社会福祉・教育分野で活躍されている専門家です。坂先生はまず子どもたちが求めていることを学び、保護者や指導員が子どもの目線でコミュケーションを深められるように心がけていらっしゃいます。特に、発育・発達にサポートを必要とする子ども達へのアプローチは大変重要ですが、この分野においては、日本では十分にサポートが構築されていないのが現状のようです。
この地域において、発達支援事業所は他にも数箇所存在しますが、多くは一般的な社会基準に適するように子ども達を指導し、いわゆる不適切な行動を矯正することに視点が置かれているようです。そんな中「そよかぜ」の児童発達支援活動は少し違った角度で子ども達と接し、触れ合うことを大切にし、とても貴重な役割を担っています。「そよかぜ」は「子ども達との繋がりを楽しみ、育み、子ども達が安心して過ごせる環境を提供すること」をモットーに、子ども達の大切な発達過程を正しい知識で導き出せる手法を伝授しています。
その活動は近年ますます広がり、子ども達とコミュニケーションの取り方などのテクニックを自宅で指導できるよう、保護者に伝授するプログラムに取り組んでいます。そして、それは孤立しがちな保護者の方々が躊躇することなく社会活動に参加できるようになることを願ってこの取り組みが始まりました。子ども達の育成には非常に多くの努力が必要ですが、それ以上に発達面で支援が必要な子育てはもっともっとサポートが必要であるはずです。保護者にとって、正しく効果的なケアや指導を提供している組織を探すのは困難でしょう。「TOKOTOKO」はそんな保護者の方々が個別に相談できたり、家族にとって一番効果的な支援方法を提案したり、子どもたちも保護者も絆が構築できるように支援しています。「親が変われば、子どもも変わる。」まずは保護者が学び、子どもに合わせて変化していくことが大切だという事です。
この「TOKOTOKO」事業所様への寄付金は保護者のトレーニングプログラムや事業所の諸費用に当てるということです。坂先生率いる「TOKOTOKO」事業所の運営に僅かながらですが、役に立てれば非常に嬉しく思います。

Nagoya Players and Nagoya Players Junior are delighted to announce the donation of ¥100,000 to NPO TOKOTOKO. Based in Chita-city in Aichi, TOKOTOKO operates three
facilities for children: 1) Sazanami House Public Nursery School , 2) Soyokaze Multifunctional Child Development Support Center, and 3) Hidamari no Ie Public Nursery School.
TOKOTOKO is led by Mrs. Ban, who has a lifetime of experience in both social work and education. She has instilled a philosophy of placing the needs of children first and trains parents and staff to communicate on the child’s level. When working with children who have developmental needs, this approach is crucial, though relatively underutilized in Japan.
It would be fair to say that developmental centers like Soyokaze are rare in Japan. There are several developmental centers available for children, however, a common approach amongst them is to train children with developmental needs to conform to societal norms, with an emphasis placed on limiting the so-called “problem behaviors”. Soyokaze tackles the challenges faced by these children a bit differently, instead emphasizing communication and connection. Soyokaze’s motto is “A place where you can feel the joy of connection and nurture the power of connection.” Soyokaze is a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and explore their surroundings, as well as receive structured guidance and support to help them reach important developmental milestones.
Recently, TOKOTOKO has expanded their program beyond supporting children and is currently creating training programs for parents to teach them communication and developmental techniques that can be used at home. The driving force behind this is the desire to create a society where parents of any child can participate in society and be included without being isolated or discriminated against. Raising children can be stressful for any parent, but perhaps more so for parents who have children with developmental needs. It can be overwhelming at times to find the best care and guidance, and TOKOTOKO wants to empower parents to make the best decisions possible for their families, and create a place where children and parents can connect with their peers while providing individualized consultation. TOKOTOKO’s catchphrase connected to Soyokaze is, “When parents change, children change.”
The money from our donation will be used to further expand the training program for parents as well as aid with the costs of daily needs for the centers. We are delighted that we can support Mrs. Ban and her team in helping these children and families.
Nagoya Players Junior began in 2019, and in that time we have been able to produce multiple shows featuring troupes of extremely talented youngsters. The project continues to grow and see success. We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed. Proceeds from these productions will be donated to local charities. Your support of the children we feature on stage also supports children in need. This has been a very fun and fulfilling project that we hope to continue for many years to come.

About the Auditions
また、オーディションの出欠に関係なく、舞台に出たい人は参加できます。ですので、オーディションは必ずしも全員が受ける必要はありません。オーディションを受ける必要のある人はセリフが一番多い主役、セリフが次に多い準主役を希望する人です。
初舞台の方や恥ずかしくて舞台で大きな声が出ない人にはみんなで発話する役があります。そして、オーディション参加は不要です。
また、「ペニーの夢の世界」はミュージカルですので、みんなで歌ったり踊ったりする場面もあります。
オーディションは5月20日（土曜日）１６：３０〜１７：５５今池スタジオで行います。参加希望の生徒さんは別紙で案内している内容の準備をしてください。時間は追って連絡します。
オーディション参加希望の方は以下のリンクより5月7日(日曜日）。
Every child who wants to be in the show will get a part. Large speaking parts will be given to the children who do the best during Auditions. We will then assign medium-size parts, these characters will have individual lines, but may not appear in every scene. After that, we will assign choral parts; these characters will not have individual lines, but are expected to speak as part of a group. Choral roles are parts for beginners and children who are shy speaking on stage.
Penny’s World of Dreams is a musical, so there will also be special parts for children who enjoy dancing and singing.
Auditions will take place on Saturday, May 20th, 16:30~17:55, Imaike Studio. Children will be expected to come prepared and to know the audition materials in advance.
Auditions are optional, however, children who would like large and medium-size parts must audition. Children who prefer smaller or choral parts do not need to audition.

名古屋文化キンダーホルト
(ENGLISH BELOW) 名古屋プレイヤーズ及び名古屋プレイヤーズJr.はボランティアによる英語劇団です。
２０２２年公演チャリティーショーケース（by 名古屋プレイヤーズJr.)には、多くの方々にご来場いただきました。そして、その収益金によって愛知県地域でサポートを必要としている施設・団体様により多くを役立てられることができました。
一つ目は「名古屋文化キンダーホルト」様へ新しいガスコンロを進呈しました。同施設は長久手で４０年ほど前に創設された児童養護施設です。擁護、保護を必要とする子供達が安心して暮らせる場所を提供しています。
最近ですが、毎日の子供たちの食事を準備するのに新しいガスコンロが必要となったことを知りました。育ち盛りの子供達に栄養のある暖かい食事を提供するお手伝いができ、少しだけですが地域社会へ貢献できる事が嬉しく思います。
「名古屋文化キンダーホルト」様は全ての子供達が安心して安全に生活が送れる環境をサポートし社会貢献を担っています。
名古屋プレイヤーズJr.は２０１９年に活動を開始し、参加した子供達の努力とそのご家族のご協力、観客の皆様のおかげで、３回の公演を実現いたしました。今後も実践的で生きた英語の学びの場を子供たちに提供し、同時に地域の子供たちへの支援活動を継続していきたく、引き続き多くの方々のご協力を賜りますよう宜しくお願い致します。
A portion of the proceeds from the showcase has gone toward the purchase of a new gas stove for Kinderhort Children’s Home. For nearly forty years, Kinderholt has housed, mentored, and protected children who are in need of a secure, safe, and stable environment.
Recently, NP was informed that the children at Kinderhort were in need of a new stove to prepare their daily meals, and we were very happy to provide them with it. Having access to proper nourishment and hot food is just one small thing we can do to make these children’s lives a tiny bit better.
All children deserve a safe and secure environment to grow up in, and we are honored to support Kinderhort in their efforts.
Nagoya Players Junior began in 2019, and in that time we’ve been able to produce several shows featuring troupes of extremely talented youngsters. The project continues to grow and see success. We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed. Proceeds from these productions will be donated to local charities. Your support of the children we feature on stage also supports children in need. This has been a very fun and fulfilling project that we hope to continue for many years to come.

Potluck Hana-mi party with Nagoya Players. Cast, crew, audience, friends, past and present…all are welcome! Let’s eat, drink and talk about theater under the cherry blossom trees!
We have a very active 2023 planned, and what better way to start off the year than by having a party with friends:) Performers and Crew from upcoming and past productions will be around to discuss theater, relax and chill. And if you want to get involved in an upcoming production we’ll be discussing plans and sharing information.
This is a BYOB event. Please bring your own food and drinks, and a little extra to share:) The weather may still be chilly, so dress appropriately.
The party starts at 13:00 for NPJ guests. Adults are welcome to join at 14:00, and for those who imbibe, drinking can then begin:)

次回の名古屋プレイヤーズJr.ショーケースは再びオリジナル・ミニ・ミュージカルが登場します。舞台に参加する子供たちは英語・演技・ダンスを学び 今回はボーカルトレーニングも取り入れて、バージョンアップします。
次の舞台のタイトルは「Penny’s World of Dreams」。「分かち合い」をテーマにストーリーが展開します。
Pennyは夢の中。クッキーパーティが始まります。豚のおもちゃZAGはとっても意地悪。お友達みんなを傷つけてしまいます。さあ、友達を助けるためにPennyのアドベンチャーが始まります。
ジェフ・フリッチ氏が再び舞台を演出し、ベン・ドーマン氏が音楽を担当します。
第４回名古屋プレイヤーズ・ショーケース２０２３「Penny’s World of Dreams」の舞台では年中さん〜小学６年生のお子様の参加を募集いたします。初めての方、英語レベル初級の方でも大歓迎！！それぞれのレベルに合った役が当てられます。そして、３回のワークショップ参加後、舞台に出てみたいなって思ったら、６月から始まる本コースにお申し込みください。また、今年度は配役を決めるために小学生のみ５月２０日（土）にオーディションを行います。
また、「Penny`s World of Dreams」は２０２３年１２月ユースクエアで公演を予定しています。
ワークショップについて
４・５月に3回オープンワークショップを開催します。
初めての方も経験者もみ〜んな大歓迎です。このオープンワークショップはパフォーミングアートへの導入編。舞台で必要な英語表現やパフォーマンスアクションを学びます。ワークショップに参加してみて、１２月の舞台で「やってみたい！」と思ったら、是非、本コースへお申し込みください。ワークショップでは次の舞台で使用する音楽やセリフも指導します。オープンワークショップを受講するとオーディションが受けやすくなりますが、経験者に限り、オープンワークショップ受講が必須ではありません。
オープンワークショップ3回の後、オーディションを経て、本コース（舞台に向けた練習）「Showcase Workshop」が６月から始まります。練習場所は今池スタジオまたは内山コミュニティーセンターにて開催します。
半年間の練習期間はお子様の送迎や宿題のフォローなど保護者のご協力が不可欠となりますので、ご理解とご協力をお願いいたします。

English Education Initiative (EEI)
EEI ( ナゴヤ・プレイヤーズ英語教育研究会）では英語習得を目指しているの方々が楽しみながら英語をマスターできるようサポート活動しています。
生きた英語を身につけるにはなるべく早い段階で英語環境を作ることが鍵だと考えます。
バイリンガルの子供達は月齢が早い段階で、その外国語環境を整えることにより外国語を身につけています。それは将来に向けての揺るぎない財産になることは間違いありません。そこで、私たち名古屋プレイヤーズは「初級」「中級」「上級」を対象にしたプログラムを作成し英語環境作りをお手伝いして参ります。
NPJ Showcase 2022 冬 Wrap Up

今年最後の舞台、名古屋プレイヤーズJr.ショーケース２０２２冬はおかげさまで４公演とも満席となり、大成功を収めることができ、素晴らしい１年の締めくくりとなりました。
２０２２年は春の公演のあと直ぐに冬の舞台に向けての練習が始まりました。時間のゆとりがなく大慌てでしたが、監督ジェフ・フリッチ氏と音楽担当ベン・ドーマン氏のご尽力のおかげで、台詞、ダンス、音楽を短期間で仕上げ、舞台へ繋げることができました。
名古屋プレイヤーズJr.の活動は公演を重ねる度に人気が高まり、第３回目となる２０２２冬の公演には３０名以上の子供たちの申し込みがありました。そこで、幼児チームと小学生チームと２つに分け舞台を２つ制作することに挑戦しました。
舞台は幼児チームによるミニ・ミュージカル「Missy’s Christmas」で始まり、子供たちの可愛らしい笑顔とダンスに観客の皆さん、心が温まり幸せなひとときを過ごせたのではないでしょうか。
次に監督ジェフ・フリッチ氏率いる「英語でタップ」のダンサーが「When You Wish Upon a Star」を披露し、舞台を彩ってくださいました。また、オガワ マサコさんとムラマツ ヤエコさんによる「On the Sunny Side of the Street」の素晴らしい歌声も舞台に花を添えてくださいました。
そして、この公演のメインとなる小学生チームの「A Day in the Life of Boogy」はエキサイティングでエネルギッシュな舞台でした。８ヶ月に渡り練習を重ねるうちに子供たちの英語、歌、ダンスがどんどん上達していき子供たちのパワーとポテンシャルを肌で感じる事ができました。
主役のBOOGY（カラムくん）とHARRIET(まりいちゃん)は観客の皆さんをアドベンチャーの世界へ連れて行きます。 BOOGY とその仲間たちは魔法のSuper Jellyを探しにBuzzvilleからMisty Mountainsを越えてLong Valleyを渡ります。その道中で繰り広げられたBOGGYとJUDITH（さきちゃん）のダンスバトルではBOOGYが勝利し、魔法のSuper Jellyを手に入れることができました。そして、お互いに助け合い、種類の違うハチでも仲間になる事ができました。「A Day in the Life of Boogy」の心温まるストーリーでは「人との相違を認め、助け合う心」を伝えています。
この素晴らしい舞台を構成するに当たり、多くの方々にご理解とご協力をいただき、心から感謝申し上げます。
また、Lino Honey様は演目にまつわる蜂と蜂蜜について色々と伝授してくださり、貴重なオーガニックハニーまでも試食させていただき、この舞台をより深く彩ってくださいました。
最後にもう一人感謝を申し上げたい人がいます。今となっては名古屋プレイヤーズJr.には欠かせない存在となりました。音楽担当のベン・ドーマン氏は劇中の全ての音源を作曲してくださいました。そのオリジナル作品

What an amazing way to end the year! The NPJ Showcase 2022 – Winter was a highlight of a very busy theater season. We had a complete sellout of all four performances! The response to this project has been truly astounding.
Hot on the heels of the Spring Showcase, the NPJ team decided to get another show up before the end of 2022. The window to prepare new scripts and new music was very small, but somehow we managed to make it happen:) Special thanks to Show Director Jeff Fritch and Music Composer Ben Dorman for putting in the extra effort needed to get the Winter Showcase to stage.
The popularity of the NPJ program has grown steadily with each production and for the Winter Showcase we began with over thirty children enrolled. This allowed us to create two troupes of actors: Kindies (ages 3~6) and Elementary (ages 6~10). Organizing two troupes was a new challenge for us, but we were ready to take it on.
The Kindies began the Showcase with a mini-musical, Missy’s Christmas. The level of cuteness was extremely high as the kids sang and danced to the tale of Missy the Christmas Tree.
Next, the members of Eigo de Tap joined us once again and added a little spice to the festive atmosphere. Jeff Fritch played When You Wish Upon a Star on his sax while the dance team tapped to the beat. We were then treated to amazing vocals by Masako Ogawa and Yaeko Muramatsu and their rendition of On the Sunny Side of the Street.
And the main event, A Day in the Life of Boogy, finished the Showcase with a bang! For nearly eight months the Elementary troupe rehearsed together, leveling up their English, dance, and singing skills each week. The end result was beautiful to watch. Leads Calum Vigrow (as BOOGY) and Marii Takagi (as HARRIET) took us on a whirlwind adventure. From Buzzville, over the Misty Mountains, and through the Long Valley, Boogy and friends went in search of the magical Super Jelly. In an incredible dance-battle with JUDITH (played by Saki Kawashima), BOOGY was able to win the Super Jelly for HARRIET and new, life-long friendships were formed. A Day in the Life of Boogy is a very heart-warming story that reminds us of the importance of helping others, even if they are outsiders.
There are so many people to thank for helping us create this wonderful production, but we’ll only mention a couple here. We’d like to give a big thank you to Show Supporter Lino Honey for joining us at the performance. For those lucky enough to sample their craft honey, we’re sure it is a taste you’ll never forget:)
And another big thank you to Ben Dorman. 2022 was a very musical year for NPJ and it was in large part due to Ben’s awesome music. An album, Nagoya Players Junior: Original Cast Recording, featuring songs from Rainbow Connections: The Land of Kindness and A Day in the Life of Boogy, is now available for download and streaming on all major music platforms. Please download and stream and sing all these fun tunes over and over again!
